2015 Mahindra Scorpio Test Drive Review
The Scorpio AT has been priced at a premium of Rs. 1.15 lakhs over the manual versions

Mahindra dealerships have silently started accepting bookings for the 2015 Scorpio automatic in the country with prices starting at Rs. 15.49 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai). As per the dealerships, the Scorpio automatic is available only on the range topping S10 variant and is being offered in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. Dealers have commenced accepting bookings for the model at a token amount of Rs. 1 lakh in Mumbai, while deliveries are promised over a span of two months. The Scorpio AT will be a made-to-order model.

Powering the Mahindra Scorpio AT is the same 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that produces 120 BHP at 4000 RPM and 280 Nm of torque between 1800-2800 RPM. The SUV now uses a 6-speed self-shifting hydraulic gearbox on the automatic variant. The model gets no other changes over the outgoing version with the S10 variant equipped with all the bells and whistles including a touchscreen infotainment system, follow me home headlamps and much more. You also get a host of safety tech including dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, panic brake indication among others.

Differentiating the Mahindra Scorpio AT over the manual variants will be an ‘Automatic’ badge on the tailgate. Mahindra has positioned the Scorpio AT’s launch very strategically, especially since the Hyundai Creta that will also be available with an automatic transmission is scheduled for launch next week. While the automaker is yet to make an announcement, we expect Mahindra to officially launch the Scorpio AT in the following days.
