The Maruti S-Cross will be launched in the first week of August and the company is very optimistic about the vehicle’s success. The premium crossover will be available in eight variants and with two diesel engines on offer. The first engine is the same 1.3-litre DDiS engine that powers many other vehicles from Maruti’s stable while the other engine is a 1.6-litre Multijet unit which is again sourced from Fiat. The smaller engine has been badged as DDiS 200 while the bigger one is called DDiS 320. The DDiS 200 engine produces 90 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The S-Cross DDiS 200 features 97% localisation which means that Maruti could price it quite aggressively.

Talking about the other engine, the DDiS 320 in the Maruti S-Cross produces 120 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque. This oil-burner comes with a 6-speed manual transmission while Euro markets also get a dual-clutch automatic tranny on the AWD model. The automatic gearbox won’t be offered in India while AWD will also not be offered. The S-Cross DDiS 320 comes with 67% localised content because the engine and transmission are completely imported. The crossover is high on fuel efficiency with the DDiS 200 motor generating 23.65 km/l while the DDiS 320 powerplant give out 22.7 km/l.

The Maruti S-Cross will be offered in the following variants – Sigma, Sigma (O), Delta, Zeta and Alpha for the DDiS 200 while the bigger engine will be offered in the top three trims. The base variant will get a driver side airbag as standard while every other variant will get dual front airbags and ABS as standard which is a fantastic move by Maruti. The S-Cross also comes loaded with tech like HID projector headlights, LED DRLs, illumination control, rain sensing wipers, reverse parking sensors with camera, MID unit, keyless go, touchscreen infotainment system, auto headlamps and cruise control.
