Marking its fourth launch for the year, Volvo India has introduced the 2015 S60 T6 petrol saloon in the country, priced at Rs. 42 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new S60 T6 debuts on the facelifted version that went on sale last year in the country, but was only sold with two diesel engine options in the D4 and D5 trim levels. The T6 variant is the more powerful and peppy version of the S60 and gets some promising numbers to boast off.

The biggest update on the 2015 Volvo S60 T6 is under the hood as the sedan sports a new 2.0-litre four-cylinder, direct-injection petrol motor that is tuned to produce 306 HP of power and 400 Nm of torque. The new engine replaces the 3.0-litre straight six unit that was available on the pre-facelift model and produced 304 HP and 440 Nm of torque. The engine comes paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels, while the predecessor sported an AWD system. In terms of performance though, the new motor is faster and does the 0-100 km/hr sprint in just 5.9 seconds with the top speed rated at 230 km/hr.

In terms of features, the Volvo S60 T6 petrol gets electronic climate control, sunroof, a 7-inch infotainment system with navigation and the Sensus UI, digital instrument cluster, power-adjustable seats with leather upholstery and remote memory. You also get active bending headlights, cornering lights, LED daytime running lights and much more for better illumination. Coming to the safety features, the S60 comes loaded with City Safety that automatically applies brakes in case of an impending collision; Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, Park Assist, DSTC, ABS, EBA and TPMS. You also get Side Impact Protection System dual front and side airbags, inflatable curtain and Whiplash Protection System.

The Volvo S60 T6 will be primarily competing against the similarly specced BMW 328i in the segment, while also locking horns against the Mercedes-Benz C200 and Audi A4 35 TFSI. Like its entire range, the 2015 Volvo S60 is coming to the country via the CBU route. Having sold 1202 cars last year, the Swedish automaker is aiming to sell around 2000 units this year and the slew of back-to-back launches should certainly help nudge closer to the figure.
