Triumph Motorcycles made its debut in India in late 2013 with 10 offerings and there has been no looking back for the British manufacturer ever since. Covering an extensive part of the market and expanding to newer places within a year, Triumph has made its presence felt amidst rivals and has been quick to launch global products in the country. It now seems the manufacturer is planning to add another offering to its lineup as import data suggests that the Speed Triple 1050R has been brought in the country for homologation purposes.

The Triumph Speed Triple 1050R is the larger, faster and more powerful version of the Speed Triple sold in India while retaining the same looks and stance from the standard version. The 1050R though measures 2100 mm in length, 795 mm in width and 1110 mm in height with a wheelbase of 1435 mm. The bike uses a double tube, twin spar design frame that is said to be stiffer and lighter, making for a more focused ride. Under the belly, the bike uses the same 1050cc liquid-cooled, 12-valve, in-line three-cylinder engine that is now tuned for 135 PS of power and 111 Nm of torque, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The standard Speed makes 126.7 PS and 104.8 Nm of torque.

The Triumph Speed Triple 1050R gets Ohlins 43 mm USD forks at the front and Ohlins twin tube monoshock suspension at the rear. Stopping power comes from 320 mm floating front discs with 4 piston callipers and 255 mm rear disc with 2 piston callipers. You also get switchable ABS as standard on the model. When launched in India, the Speed Triple 1050R will be fending off competition from the Yamaha FZ1, Kawasaki Z1000, Suzuki GSX-S1000 and the likes. The model will be brought in the country via the CBU route, so expect a rather hefty price tag of around Rs. 13-14 lakhs (ex-showroom).
