As per the latest import data, the 2016 Jaguar XJ facelift has been brought into the country for homologation purposes. Jaguar’s flagship saloon, the 2016 XJ was globally unveiled in June this year and will make its first public appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. The XJ is an extremely good looking alternative to the likes of the Mercedes S-Class, BMW 7-Series as well as the Audi A8 and the British manufacturer has introduced a host of updates to the exteriors and interiors on the latest model, improving its appeal further.

Without radically changing from its existing styling, the 2016 Jaguar XJ facelift gets revised front and rear bumpers with larger air intakes, new standard LED headlights with new double J-shaped LED daytime running lights, new LED tail lights and oval exhaust tips. Inside the cabin, the overall layout continues to be the same as the outgoing model but the limo gets new upholstery options, wood inserts and an 8-inch capacitive touchscreen infotainment unit, the InControl Touch Pro system. The 12.3-inch instrument display unit has been updated as well to showcase full-screen navigation. The model will continue to arrive as a long wheelbase edition in the country.

For homologation, the 2016 Jaguar XJ facelift has been imported with a 2.0-litre petrol motor, tuned to produce 240 PS and 340 Nm of torque. The larger chunk of sales though come from the diesel variant, now propelled by a new 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 motor churning out 300 PS and 700 Nm of torque, 25 PS and 100 Nm more than the outgoing model. Internationally, you also get a 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine producing 510 PS and 625 Nm of torque. All variants come paired to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. Once the homologation process is complete, the new Jaguar XJ is likely to be launched in India by late 2015 or early 2016.
