The TUV300 gets Jeep inspired front fascia while there is a high possibility of the SUV being offered with an automatic transmission, possibly an AMT unit.

Scheduled for an official launch on 10th September, Mahindra’s rugged new SUV the ‘TUV300’ has been caught completely undisguised in Bikaner, Rajasthan showing every little aesthetic detail that you were waiting for. A boxy profile as imagined, the new images reveal the front fascia completely with the chrome covered vertical-slat grille that is reminiscent to Jeep SUVs along with the trendy looking headlight that gets a slight kink at the sides. The front bumper is a far simpler unit with a rectangular air intake in the centre flanked by square fog lamps.

The side profile on the Mahindra TUV300 has symmetrical wheel arches and gets short overhangs. The glasshouse area is large, especially the rear quarter glass. You also get a blackened D-pillar, 10-spoke alloy wheels and black roof rails. At the rear, the TUV300 instantly reminds you of the Quanto but is noticeably different and gets a rear wiper, a tailgate mounted spare wheel with wheel cover, a foot-step for easier ingress and vertically stacked tail lights. The rear bumper gets integrated reflectors.

Inside the cabin, the Mahindra TUV300 will come loaded with a multi-function steering wheel, infotainment system, Bluetooth connectivity as well as AUX and USB connectivity. The interior gets finished in dual-tone beige and black colour scheme and is a 7-seater in a 2+3+2 seating layout with two single jump seats in the last row. In terms of power, Mahindra had stated that a new mHawk 80 diesel engine will be used under the hood of the TUV300. This unit is reportedly a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder engine, essentially a reworked version of the motor found on the Quanto.

The oil burner will be sending power to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard and even though Mahindra is pushing a masculine image for the TUV; there won’t be an AWD option at present. The image source also conveys that one of the cars had an automatic transmission, hinting towards an AMT unit debuting on the Mahindra TUV300 and will certainly give the company a competitive edge. With the countdown to the launch begun, it will be the price tag that will play an important role in positioning Mahindra’s smallest SUV.
