The Hero Duet has been unveiled by the company in the 110cc space today and gets a more curvaceous design language and an all-metal body on offer.
Hero MotoCorp’s second automatic two-wheeler offering for the day, the ‘Duet’ has been officially unveiled in the country. Much like the Maestro Edge, the Duet is also a newly developed model independent of Honda and also gets an all-new 111cc engine powering the scooter. That said, the Duet differentiates itself with more flowing lines and an all-metal body shell being targeted at a larger customer base when compared to the sportier Maestro Edge. The Duet also comes with a 5 year warranty. The Duet has a mileage figure of 63.8 km/l.
In terms of dimensions, the 2015 Hero Duet measures 1830 mm in length, 725 mm in width and 1140 mm in height with a wheelbase of 1245 mm. Given the metal body, the scooter is slightly heavy compared to the Maestro Edge at 116 kgs and also gets steel wheels instead of the alloys seen on the latter. The styling is appreciable on the Duet with the heavily contoured front fascia that gets finished with a chrome finish V-shaped garnish while the three-piece clear lens headlight cluster merges well into the design.
The soft lines continue at the side and rear as well with a chrome streak on the side panel whereas the exhaust muffler gets silver garnish. Hero has also given an interesting look to the Duet scooter with the all black finishing that extends to the wing mirrors and even the grab rail. The instrument cluster is carried over from the Maestro Edge while special features include the mobile charging port, under-seat storage lamp, front and rear hooks and a fuel filler buzzer.
In terms of power, the 2015 Hero Duet scooter uses an 111cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine churning out 8.43 PS at 8000 RPM and 8.30 Nm of torque at 6500 RPM, paired to a CVT transmission. The scooter gets telescopic forks at the front and shock absorbers at the rear along with the Integrated Braking System (IBS) for improved stopping power. The Duet will be competing in the heavily crowded scooter segment that is ruled by Hero’s erstwhile partner Honda. Nonetheless, the Hero Duet with its right pricing might just be able to push healthy numbers for the automaker.
