2015 Honda City Long Term Review
Road safety awareness is a very important aspect for Indian roads

In India, there are only a handful of automobile companies that take up the responsibility for the safety of the society and come up with ‘Road Safety’ initiatives. Amongst them, Honda is the most prominent one with their “Drive To Safety” campaign. The campaign focuses on providing education to all the road users, specifically amongst students in multiple cities across India. It’s based on interactive, experience-based programs for people that are implemented by trained instructors, to increase the consciousness for safety at the car enquiry stage itself.

The “Drive To Safety” initiative was introduced in January 2015, by Honda Cars India Limited (HCIL) and it has successfully covered a crowd of over 3,00,000 people till date, which is quite commendable. For the second phase of the initiative, HCIL reached out to school and college students with a “National Drive To Safety Contest” that saw as many as 65,000 participants aged between 15 – 20 years from 209 schools and colleges from 50 different cities across India. Out of these, 36 made it to the final round and were invited to Honda’s facility in Greater Noida and then a series of written tests, group discussion and quiz round were conducted to decide the top three contestants.

Ms. Manvi Madan of Gayatri International Institute of Planning and Management – Noida won the first place followed by, Mr. Yudhajit Roychowdhury of North Point Senior Secondary Boarding School – Kolkata and Ms Kavitha of Sriram Engineering College – Veppampattu, as the first runner up and second runner up, respectively. The winners were conferred with a Certificate of Recognition and Memento and all the participants were provided with Honda Sports Safety Kit.
