Mahindra will be launching its baby SUV on the 10th of September and currently the commercials are being shot. Some pictures of the undisguised car have also appeared on the internet which show that the new car gets looks inspired by the Jeep along with a small footprint. Now, Mahindra has released an official teaser video of the ad which shows the front end of the compact SUV. The video also announces the start of official bookings although the bookings were being taken since a few days ago with an amount of Rs. 20,000/- at various dealers.

At the first glance itself, the design of the TUV300 looks quite boxy and straightforward and a little toned down from the battleship from which it supposedly draws inspiration. There is slight resemblance with the Quanto from some angles but the upcoming baby Mahindra is based on a new platform. Variant details of the compact SUV were leaked out a few days ago which revealed that it will come in three variants. The base variant will get power windows, power steering and AC as standard whereas the trims above will get alloy wheels, infotainment system and optional AMT gearbox.

What comes as a welcome move is that even the base trim of the TUV300 will come with an option of ABS and airbags for the ones who are on a budget yet don’t want to compromise on safety. Powering the vehicle will be the mHawk80 1.5-litre diesel engine which is most likely a tweaked version of the Quanto’s engine which produces 100 BHP of power and 240 Nm of torque at present. Being marketed as a tough and bold SUV, the car is likely to find a place in the hearts of Indian customers. Resemblance to the Jeep will also work in its favour because many in India buy vehicles purely based on looks. Prices are expected to start under Rs. 7 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the base variant.
