The complete Hero range of products are now available on Snapdeal

Hero MotoCorp, India’s largest 2-Wheeler maker recently tied-up with Snapdeal to sell its motorbikes online. The tie-up between the two companies started off in December 2014 and has proved successful for both the companies ever since. The availability of buying a Hero product online has attracted such a large number that at its peak, Snapdeal was selling one Hero bike every minute which is quite an achievement indeed.

The tie-up proves the potential of the e-commerce market and how it helps reach out to thousands of people who buy everything online. Hero MotoCorp has now sold 3 lakh units through Snapdeal which although accounts for only 5 percent of its total annual sales, yet this number in itself is more than what other competing companies like Mahindra and Piaggio sell in the entire year. Mahindra’s two-wheeler division sells around 1,65,000 units, while Piaggio manages to sell 28,000 units a year.

A spokesperson from Hero MotoCorp said that the success with Snapdeal has prompted the company to work on its own online platform. The ‘Hero Brand Store’ on Snapdeal offers the entire range of Hero products. A potential buyer needs to just pay a small booking amount of Rs. 3000/- online after which the closest Hero MotoCorp dealership gets in touch with the customer to facilitate the sale further. The spokesperson also added that scooters like the Maestro and Pleasure are generating high volumes on the online platform.
