Honda has announced the world debut of the new CBR500R that is scheduled to happen at the AIMExpo (American International Motorcycle Expo). The international motorcycle show will be revealing the new performance motorcycle next week. The upcoming motorcycle expo will be held in Orlando, Florida from October 15th to 18th, 2015. The middleweight motorcycle will get extensive styling changes but the underpinnings will remain unchanged.

Honda has taken the CBR1000RR as the design inspiration for the new CBR500R. The ‘Aggressive Speed Shape’ is its styling concept which will make the performance bike look aggressive, sporty and sharp with the new elements. The front consists of a new dual LED headlight. The design is more forward slanted that swings up as you move to the rear profile of the CBR500R. The rear also gets new LED tail lamps with an edgy design.

Special attention has been put to the muffler that now gets a new irregular cross-section shape. The internal structure has also been redesigned so as to achieve mass concentration and crisp exhaust sound with heavy low tones. The new fuel tank also gets re-designed and fuel capacity has also been increased. It gets a hinged fuel cap to add to the convenience of the rider while refuelling the bike.

The front suspension of the 2016 CBR500R has been equipped with a pre-load adjuster system. There is a new brake lever adjustment mechanism that suits a wide range of riders. The Japanese automaker has planned to launch the new offering in the U.S. in 2016 and soon after in Europe, Asia and Japan. The Japanese market will get the CBR400R though. Powering the current CBR500R is a 500cc parallel-twin motor that churns out 47 BHP of power with a peak torque of 43 Nm, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The specifications of the new bike is yet to be revealed. Honda had showcased the CBR500R in India at last year’s Auto Expo but a launch isn’t planned.
