2016 Triumph Speed Triple R Production Spec
The frame gets no alterations on the 2016 Speed Triple R

Triumph has been readying up the Speed Triple with a slew of updates for the 2016 model year since quite some time now and the model was more recently snapped completely undisguised in the production ready form. Bearing no camouflage, the new spy shot reveals the higher spec R version on the 2016 Triumph Speed Triple with a host of new details including the revised styling bits, a new red sub-frame and wheel rim-tape.

For MY2016, the Triumph Speed Triple R gets a new fuel tank, revised radiator covers, a shaped fly screen with a new air scoop and a smaller tail unit. The aggressive street-fighter now gets split seats replacing the single unit seen on the outgoing version. Coming to the mechanicals, the image reveals that the 2016 Speed Triple R will continue to come with the sophisticated Ohlins suspension while the standard Speed Triple will make do with the Showa units. That said, both bikes will share the same Brembo brake callipers.

In terms of powertrain, Triumph is likely to make a host of changes to the 1050cc three-cylinder motor powering the Speed Triple R with power increased from 133 HP to 140 HP. The bike will also reportedly get new tech including traction control, multiple engine modes and electronic throttles, similar to the updates made to the Tiger 800 earlier this year.

There is also a new exhaust system and catalytic converter in light of lower emissions so that the 2016 Triumph Speed Triple R adheres to the stringent emission norms in Europe. More recently, the British motorcycle giant imported the outgoing Speed Triple R for homologation purposes in India and could introduce the model towards the end of the year.
