Japanese automaker Honda will soon launch an upmarket version of the CB Shine and it will be called the CB Shine SP. The bike is an attempt by the manufacturer to boost sales as rival Hero Glamour is catching up.

The Honda CB Shine SP will be priced a bit higher than the regular CB Shine

Honda has been having a fairly good run in the two-wheeler market space in India and the Japanese company launched some new products earlier this year. At one of the previous events, Honda had stated that they will launch two more products before the year ends and we know that one of them will be the CB Hornet 160R. The other bike (referred to as a mystery bike) is going to be the CB Shine SP. The CB Shine SP is a slightly more upmarket version of the regular CB Shine 125 that is already ringing in good sales.

Talking about the CB Shine SP, the motorcycle is likely to get the exact same mechanicals as the CB Shine but the company might just make small tweaks to the 124.7cc engine for improved efficiency. The Shine SP gets the following changes – 10 spoke alloys, new tail lamp, new exhaust muffler with chrome trim, red springs in rear suspension, new decals, bigger visor and swept-back headlamp design. The only aim of launching this model is to freshen up the product line-up, attempting to boost sales to stay ahead of the Hero Glamour which has been catching up.

The Honda CB Shine is priced between Rs. 62,117/- to Rs. 65,179/- (ex-showroom, Mumbai) and is available in three variants as of now – self-disc, self-drum and self-disc CBS. The upcoming Honda CB Shine SP will be priced marginally higher than the current variants and it will be launched on the 19th of November. The Shine competes with the likes of the Yamaha Saluto, Bajaj Discover 125M and Hero Glamour (also Super Splendor).

The Honda Shine was first launched in 2006 and it turned out to be a runaway success. Earlier this year, Honda rolled out the 30 lakh unit of the bike from its Tapukara plant and the Shine is also said to be the highest selling 125cc bike in the world (also Honda’s most selling bike). To meet the motorbike’s growing demand, Honda then started additional production of the CB Shine at its Narsapura plant in Karnataka.
