2015 Mahindra Mojo Test Ride Review
The price hike seems marginal compared to the overall package

A little over a month after its official launch, prices for the Mahindra Mojo has been hiked by Rs. 5000/- across the country. The automaker’s highly awaited flagship offering, the Mojo went on sale on 15th October this year right before the festive season and was announced with an introductory price tag of Rs. 1.58 lakhs. The price hike was inevitable and was expected to arrive sooner or later with prices now starting at Rs. 1.63 lakhs (all prices, ex-showroom Delhi).

Along with the introductory price, Mahindra sweetened the deal for the first 100 customers by offering a host of freebies and goodies including a two year roadside assistance package, three year extended warranty and a standard two year cover along with a riding jacket and organised rides for the owners. The automaker is still providing some of the above but needs to be purchased separately from the dealer. A compelling package for tourers, the Mojo has proved its capabilities and the price hike does seem marginal and won’t radically affect the sales of the model.

Loaded on goodies, the Mahindra Mojo come with dual headlights, LED DRLs and tail lights, a loaded instrument console with a top speed recorder and 0-100 km/hr timer while the range is regarded to be around 600 kms. Power comes from a 295cc single-cylinder engine tuned to produce 28 PS at 8000 RPM and 30 Nm of torque at 5500 RPM, paired to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike comes with USD forks with triple clamp up front and a monoshock setup at the rear while braking performance comes from 320 mm front and 240 mm rear disc brakes.

While there is no ABS currently on offer, Mahindra has promised of the same some time next year. The Mojo is currently on sale via 10 dealerships as part of phase one and the automaker will be expanding the availability to other cities by next year. The automaker also plans to export the naked tourer to other markets by mid-2016.
