The Suzuki Hayate EP will get SEP technology

Suzuki launched the Hayate in 2012 with a very powerful marketing campaign, however it did not help sales, the commuter was not able to attract buyers. But the Japanese manufacturer does not seem to have lost hope, it has recently announced the new and upgraded Hayate EP which is claimed to come with innovative technologies. The new motorcycle will come with a reworked engine and other body parts will also go under an upgrade. The new bike will be launched in 2016 itself while the prices will be announced at the same time.

The new Suzuki Hayate EP is powered by a 113cc engine that now comes with Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) and uses the company’s high-ignition spark plug, Super Sleek Piston and low friction cylinder and piston rings which allows the motor to produce 8.9 PS at 7500 RPM and 9.3 Nm of torque at 5000 RPM when mated on a 4-speed gearbox (the regular Hayate outputs 8.4 PS at 7500 RPM and 8.8 Nm at 5500 RPM). The new motorcycle is suspended by telescopic forks upfront and a 5-step adjustable rear shock, while both the front and the rear wheel gets drum brakes.

The Suzuki Hayate EP comes with a new diamond frame which along with 1305 mm of wheelbase ensures the motorcycle’s stability. Other features on the new bike include a maintenance-free battery, tubeless tyres and longer seats, edgy character lines that run from the tank up to the tail and new graphics. The Hayate will come in three colours namely metallic grey, sparkle black and pearl red.

The Indian division of Suzuki 2-wheelers commenced operations in 2006 and has seen many ups and downs since then. The Japanese automaker has launched some very successful products like the Access 125 while it has given some not-so-good products like the Slingshot and the older Hayate itself. The recently launched Gixxer has gained popularity in a very short span of time and the firm is all set to unveil the dual disc variant of the 150cc street-fighter and the much awaited Gixxer 250 at the 2016 Auto Expo.
