Bringing an end to all speculations, TVS has finally announced the launch date for its new products that will be taking place on 20th January 2016. Given the fact that the Hosur based automaker has conveyed the term ‘offerings’ in its communication, it would be safe to assume that there is more than one launch taking place on the same day. The new launches could either be the flagship Apache RTR 200 and 180 or the revised Apache 160 and 180 or all-new Apache 160 and 200 models.

The most awaited launch is most obviously the TVS Apache RTR 200 that has been comprehensively tested and caught on numerous occasions in India and overseas. The Apache 200 is expected to take a quantum leap for the automaker in terms of performance with power expected to come from a 200cc air-cooled with oil-cooling, single-cylinder engine tuned to deliver 10 percent more torque over the KTM Duke 200. Power is expected to be in the vicinity of 25 HP and 22 Nm of torque with a 5-speed gearbox reportedly mated to the motor.

Further, the TVS Apache 200 will be equipped with an all-digital instrument console, monoshock suspension, LED tail light, split seats, front and rear disc brakes and a dual-channel ABS unit available as optional. The motorbike will get clip-on handlebars while a single-piece unit is also a possibility. It is also likely that the production model could come with Pirelli tyres with a 100 section unit at the front and a 130 section unit doing duty at the rear.

We expect a host of these upgrades to feature on the smaller TVS Apache 160 and 180 versions as well while the design language will come from the Draken X21 concept that was first showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo. The automaker will be revealing its plans at the time of launch and we look forward to some major announcements coming in that day.
