The Honda CBR150R facelift was launched at Sentul Circuit, Indonesia

All the competitors in the small capacity sports bike segment were getting facelifts and mechanical updates while the Honda CBR range was only getting new colours and body graphics (the situation is further grim in India where we are already being sold a much older model). The followers were eagerly waiting for the facelift that was due for a launch since a very long time, however the wait is now over as Honda launched the CBR150R facelift in Indonesia on 14th February at the Sentul circuit at a starting price IDR 32.5 million (Rs. 1.60 lakhs) with the top-end Repsol costing IDR 33.3 million (Rs. 1.70 lakhs).

The 2016 Honda CBR150R facelift comes with a new sleek design that looks modern with the new split LED headlamps similar to the ones seen on its prime competitor the Yamaha YZF-R15. The new sports bike also comes with split seats and the entire rear part seems to have risen in height while the LED tail lamp has also received an update along with the LED turn indicators.

The 2016 Honda CBR150R facelift also gets a fully digital instrument cluster and the design of the fuel tank has also changed. Built on a diamond frame with aluminium engine hanger, the entire design is claimed to be more aerodynamic. Other parts such as the rear seat cowl and side panels along with the fairing gets new design.

Power in the Honda CBR150R facelift comes from the same 149.16cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected DOHC engine while the ECU is tuned to produce 17.1 PS at 9000 RPM and 13.6 Nm of torque at 7000 RPM and the motor is mated on a 6-speed gearbox. The facelift is also claimed to deliver a better mileage.

The 2016 Honda CBR150R will be offered in four colour options that include Revolution White, Honda Racing Red, Nitro Black and Special MotoGP edition that we call the Repsol edition. After the Indonesian launch, the new bike is expected to reach the Indian market soon while it is expected to be offered at a little premium on the current prices.
