India is a beautiful country with some exemplary places to visit and see before one kicks the bucket, be it the Ghats section in Maharashtra or the serene and breathtaking NH-1 going towards the ultimate touring destination of them all – the Leh-Ladakh region. Thus to cater to those who look forward to enjoying the journey more than the destination, Royal Enfield came up with a niche adventure-tourer motorcycle and aptly named it as the Himalayan. Now Royal Enfield North America has said on its Instagram page that a fuel-injected version of the Royal Enfield Himalayan could also be introduced for North America at a later stage.

Recently, the Instagram account of the Royal Enfield North America shared a picture of the Himalayan with the sky-piercing peaks of the mountain range by the same name as the backdrop. The picture had a caption that said that the Himalayan, which was introduced in India in February 2016, is expected to get a fuel-injected variant too for the North American market, but nothing is guaranteed at present. The company is expected to hold a unique crowd funding program to gauge customer interest and will then proceed to accept pre-bookings before the official launch of the bike in the region.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan was introduced by the Chennai based automaker as an adventure-tourer motorcycle which was targeted to the people who enjoy going off the beaten path and see new places. Adventure touring motorcycle is a niche segment in the Indian two-wheeler scenario which is dominated by commuter motorcycles. But the two-wheeler is still expected to find many takers in the country as well as overseas, where Royal Enfield has been constantly trying to expand its footprint.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan for India is propelled by a single-cylinder SOHC carbureted 411cc engine which produces 24.5 PS of power. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and the motorcycle gets disc brakes on both of its wheels. The company will provide a variety of touring accessories that can be fitted/mounted on the Himalayan, such as jerry cans or various guards, apart from the add-ons and apparels that are available at Royal Enfield stores already.
