The Sail UV-A is based on the Sail sedan

You read it first on MotorBeam. Chevrolet is struggling in the Indian market for sometime now with the new launches such as the TrailBlazer not meeting expectations and the existing models such as the Sail and Sail UV-A still not able to impress buyers. As a result of this, the American automaker is reported to have discontinued the production of the Sail UV-A.

However, with this discontinuation, Chevrolet also plans to launch the Beat Activ and Essentia in 2017. These models were showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo earlier this month while both of them are based on the current generation Beat. The new generation Chevrolet Beat is still due for launch in the Indian market.

The Chevrolet Beat Activ is a crossover based on the hatchback and as it was showcased as a concept at the Auto Expo, no details about the powertrain are out yet. But the design of the crossover looks promising with LED headlights and DRLs upfront while the black wheel arch cladding gives it a rugged look.

The Chevrolet Beat Essentia on the other hand, is a proper compact sedan, however, it closely resembles the hatchback sibling. A number of styling cues such as the roofline, rear windows, rear door handles, etc. have been changed to suit the compact sedan. Both the crossover and sedan will be equipped with the new MyLink infotainment system.
