Mahindra upgraded the W4 base variant of the XUV500 with a new 6-inch monochrome infotainment system that replaces the LCD display. The new system comes with USB, Bluetooth, iPod connectivity, CD and hands-free calling. The update was silently launched and now appears on the official website while it is offered without any price hike and the Mahindra XUV500 W4 is priced at Rs. 11.50 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

The monochrome system is also offered with the W6 variant while the higher W8 and W10 trims are equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with added features such as GPS, reverse parking cameras, picture view and changeable wallpaper. The Mahindra XUV500 did not undergo any other mechanical or cosmetic update.

Mahindra introduced a lot of updates for the XUV500 last year starting with the facelift that gave the SUV features such as LED DRLs, puddle lamps, multiple airbags, etc. which was followed by the launch of the long awaited automatic variant. The updates were completed with the announcement of the new 1.99-litre engine to counter the diesel ban on vehicles with engine displacement above 2000cc in New Delhi.

Before this, the Mahindra XUV500 was only powered by a 2.2-litre m-Hawk 140 diesel engine that produces 140 BHP and 330 Nm of torque. This motor is offered with a option of a 6-speed manual gearbox or an automatic unit, the W10 trim with automatic transmission is priced at Rs. 17.23 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai).

Mahindra’s stall at the 2016 Auto Expo attracted a lot of attention with the Aero concept crossover based on the XUV500. It is the first product developed with inputs from the automaker’s latest acquisition Pininfarnia and the concept will be turned into production after evaluating public response.
