The Renault Kwid will be exported as SKDs (semi-knocked down units) and will be assembled at the French automaker’s Brazilian facility in Resende.

The Renault Kwid has taken the market by storm and has received more than one 1 bookings in just four months in the domestic market. The French automaker unveiled the 1.0-litre and AMT variants of the Renault Kwid at the 2016 Auto Expo which the company plans to export to Brazil starting from this year itself.

The Renault Kwid will be exported as SKDs (semi-knocked down units) to Brazil while it will be assembled at the facility at Resende. The automaker will export the 1.0-litre variants with a little modification and ABS as standard to meet the minimum safety norms of the country.

The Brazilian spec Renault Kwid will get new larger ORVMs while the ground clearance is expected to be reduced and the rest of the car will be the same as the Indian model. The Kwid will be the second car to be exported from India after the Duster which was also exported to Brazil.

The waiting period for the Renault Kwid is 5-6 months in the domestic market which the automaker aims at reducing it up to 3 months by ramping up the production from 6000 units to 10,000 units at the Renault-Nissan plant in Oragadam near Chennai. The company will also introduce new variants of the Kwid and Duster this year.

Renault aims at achieving 5 percent market share by the end of 2016 with a sale of more than 1,00,000 units compared to the 54,000 units in 2015. It also aims at increasing the number of dealerships from 205 to 240 outlets along with the introduction of mobile workshops that can work on 5 to 6 cars everyday, the company has created these workshops by modifying the Lodgy which can go to rural areas and provide quality service.
