Three years ago when BMW and TVS entered into a joint venture to develop and manufacture entry level motorcycles for India and other markets, the whole motorcycling world had to stand up and take notice. One of the first products from the Indian-German partnership is the BMW G310R street naked motorcycle which was revealed in November 2015. Now it seems like BMW is not going to waste any more time and will launch the motorcycle this year only, as evident by the latest testing of the bike which has been caught on tape for the first time in India.

The BMW G310R was caught testing somewhere in Southern India with no camouflage and wearing Strato Blue Metallic paint. Upon identifying the blue motorcycle as none other than the entry-level BMW, the bunch of youngsters who were shooting the video got sufficiently excited and started chirping like a group of teenage girls meeting Virat Kohli. When the rider of the motorcycle himself realised that he has been caught, he dropped a gear and sped-off away from their prying eyes, although it does look like he was trying to show-off a bit.

And show-off all he can rightly so, because the BMW G310R has a 313cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with an output of 34 BHP at 9500 RPM and a maximum torque of 28 Nm at 7500 RPM. The motorcycle is equipped with upside down front forks, mono-shock rear suspension, 300 mm front disc brake and 240 mm rear disc brake, along with ABS as standard fitment. The motorcycle has a kerb weight of 158.5 kgs and a top speed of 144 km/hr.

The bike will be manufactured at the TVS plant in India and hence the price is expected to be very competitive, tackling head-on with the KTM Duke 390 and the Mahindra Mojo. TVS will bring a fully faired version of the bike to the Indian market based on the same engine which will be called the Apache RTR 300. Expect the bike to be priced in the range of Rs. 3 lakhs plus.
