Have you heard of a LPG bike? Bajaj Auto plans to launch a LPG version of the Platina. Yes, an LPG powered bike. Bajaj claims 109kms to a liter of petrol for the Platina, so they might claim 100kmpl for the LPG Platina. LPG costs Rs. 25, which means you can travel 4kms in Rs. 1/- But refinement will be a major issue. The bike won’t be easy to ride either.

No fas, a LPG engine rides smoother than a petrol engine. That’s chemistry- as LPG is a gas, it atomizes with air and the combustion pattern is smooth…the way in which the bike rides, I don’t know. If it is heavy, then it will be difficult.

Shrawan, on paper yes LPG is smoother, but on the road, petrol is smoother. After driving a few LPG cars I can say that. Refinement goes for a serious toss with LPG.
