After a delay of almost 5 months, Bajaj Auto has finally launched the much awaited 2009 edition Pulsar 220. The Bajaj Pulsar 220 is priced at Rs. 70,000/- (ex-showroom, Delhi) making it Rs. 15,000/- cheaper than the old FI version bike and very attractive infront of the Yamaha FZ16 and TVS Apache 180. The new Pulsar 220 churns out maximum power of 21.04@8500rpm and maximum torque of 19.12@7500 rpm. Bajaj have optimized the gear ratios and claim a top speed of 144 kmph, making the new Pulsar 220 the fastest Indian bike. The bike does 0-100kmph in 11.30 seconds. Checkout pictures of the 2009 Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTSi.
“We have been continuously evolving our Pulsar range to provide our customers state-of-the-art product with unmatched performance and technology. The new 2009 edition Pulsar 220 has further raised the bar in the performance segment by becoming India’s fastest production bike,” Bajaj Auto Ltd CEO (two-wheelers) S Sridhar said.
The 2009 Pulsar 220 DTSi is much more than just a non-fuel-injected version of the DTS-Fi. Visually, the bike has an all-black treatment with black forks, swingarm, alloys and engine paint. Other visual tit-bits are chiseled 3d graphics, a redesigned console background and revised clip-on handlebars.
The changes are starker in the innards of the bike. The new engine shares the same dimensions as the 220 DTS-Fi, but now breathes through a 32mm venturi carburetor with an auto-choke feature. Power output has been pegged at 21.04PS @ 8500rpm, and though the torque remains the same at 19.12Nm, it now comes in at a higher 8000rpm, signaling the revvy nature of the motor with ample torque to go with it. The bike is available in 4 colours. Read more about Pulsar 220 DTSi performance here.

IN AN INTERVIEW A BAJAJ EXECUTIVE SAID THAT PULSAR 220 Fi WILL CONTINUE TO SELL WITH THE NEW P220 DTS-I WITH THE SAME FEATURES, BUT THE PULSAR 220 DTS-I WILL BE SUPERIOR IN TERMS OF PERFORMANCE.
PULSAR 220 DTS-Fi WILL COST Rs. 10000 – 15000 MORE THAN THE P220 DTS-i MODEL.

Raj, How does Bajaj plan to justify the extra amount for a slower bike? They need to bump the power in the Pulsar 220Fi, if they want to sell it.

@Mujasal:my friend ,Indian bikes cannot be allowed in pakistan although illegal used indian bikes are available in pakistan ,but older bikes.check bahwalpur ,peshwar regions.
pakistan is still what we call “glorious 1989s-1992″‘s era. :D
yes!seriously guys!I am not bashing or mocking.I felt pity for the bikers there who raves about 2 strokers like RX115 and GTO125 which were our Yamaha RX100 and Bajaj KB100RTZ bikes.ravi-piaggio and honda makes bikes but still got quality issue.
they smuggle Indian bikes to Dubai and from there ,gets into Afghan and then to peshawar in pakistan.but the numbers are very less.
their bikes ,mostly chinese craps can be seen looking wanna be great ,but lacks testosterone(power).
I checked orkut and other sites to study about pakistanis, afghanis and Iranians along with bangladeshis and srilankans, malayasians, indonesians.
these people still watch more Indian Channels(Public bashing of Indian and Indian channels are a common show off in these muslim nations, but secretly they feel proud about India) and indirectly watches Indian ads of products and expects(especially women) Indian cosmetic products or Bikes or Cars in Pakistan or Afghanistan.
Really a shocking scenario.A Identity Issue! We can see pakistanis opening Indian brand restaurents in Europe and elsewhere.but it is a pity of a copy Job.
Pakistanis must arise and “upclaim” their difference by their culture.India and Indians are theie enemy.Leave us and our products ,what say?
WAIT!They can’t!Go to Lahore Pan Mundi or Peshawar or any other areas even in SAWAT – They gets Indian products!what a shock!
We can see the inquiries by Pakistanis in Indian forums and blogs about bikes and other Indian products.care why they are asking here?it is because ,they are watching Indian Media full time albeit their Mullahs issues fatwas against it.
wakeup!
