Pulsar Most Profitable Bike In The World!

Every company’s primary aim is shareholder wealth maximization and Bajaj Auto is no different in this regard. The 2-wheeler major has been selling the Pulsar in large numbers and Rajiv Bajaj has recently claimed that the Pulsar is the most profitable motorcycle in the whole wide world! He says that a profit margin of 20% is what the company earns on every Pulsar sold, which is indeed remarkable. Infact, Rajiv Bajaj further goes onto claim that Bajaj Auto is the most profitable company in the world, which itself helps them to be cash strong and helps them in picking up stake in global companies.

The Bajaj Pulsar has always been priced aggressively and is known as a value for money product. Even with such pricing, Bajaj Auto maintains a stupendous margin on the product. The reason for such high margins could be extreme localization of parts and long term supplier contracts. Furthermore, the parts from the Pulsar are also used on the Discover and the KTM Duke, thereby giving the company economies of scale. Now we know why the Bajaj RE60 looks like a bigger rickshaw and the company is not even calling it a car, because Bajaj knows that profit maximization is of foremost importance.

We read and reply to almost every comment on MotorBeam and last month Neil had put this comment, which sums up why Bajaj Auto is so successful with the Pulsar.

“All people enjoy the Yamaha radicals because they have the chassis, engines, etc being developed for 20 years and odd so there is nothing new they profoundly gave it to the R15. But if Bajaj gave all the aspects which a common Indian never knew or had seen before, example – projector beam, back lit switches, twin spark, 17-inch wheels, tubeless tyres, where were the Japs (yawning)? Now this all new Pulsar NS has set some ground breaking revelations. Bajaj has planted something new and that too from a Indian Manufacturer we have to appreciate it” – Neil commented.

Fas that Neil comment was a real surprise!!! Generally we would expect it to be a comment of Mr. Rajiv Bajaj or K. Srinivasan etc. I too noticed when he commented and it was one of the best ever comments on MB. (Yawning) When will my comment appear? :P
People will always buy Bajaj bikes since people trust the brand and are aware they are not looters like the foreign companies and have localisation advantages and are proud of India.

Why don’t they reduce the profit margin further and make the Pulsar cheaper??? It would further eat into the market share na???

Is this open comment on profit taken lightly in India?

Faisal February 22, 2012 at 1:12 am

Madhav, because they also want to increase shareholder return.

Hi Faisal, The MB team and rest of the mates,

Thank you very much indeed!! I am eating bones and biting air at the moment. I didnt expect my comment would rather have any impact but it did. When the voice comes from the innner soul it has to be heard, isnt it!!

The fact is I respect the brand the cherish the days that i’ve spent using it. Pulsar has been heart close and in my head everytime i am ride it. I own a bike for more than 10 years and i dont know if people will be surprised by this (Three pulsars I owned at the very same time. I had my parking with generation of Pulsars 150 classic, 180 Dtsi UG1 and the 220 DTSFi). No i sold two out of three and still own a 180 DTSi (Mint).
Rajiv Bajaj is a young leader and believe me he knows what a guy like me or you want. He has given us a machine which brings smiles with very less financial hic ups!!

Thank you once again considering my comment. I wish MB all the very best and great success ahead.

Cheers!!!

Soon reality WILL catch up with Bajaj. You cannot squeeze the vendors and the employees to eternity. Neither can you continue to sell unrefined & unreliable bikes for ever (park a 5 year old Unicorn next to a 5 year old P150 and you’ll know all there is to know). Honda (now free from the shackles of Hero’s contract) will inevitably become India’s (and consequently the world’s) no.1 bike maker. In this game of musical chairs, Mr. Bajaj can keep on dancing, till the music stops that is, then he’ll be left standing when everyone else will be sitting pretty on their chairs.

Wake up buddy, Honda was always free, it is Hero that’s free now. If it’s that obvious Unicorn would have outsold Pulsar, after all it’s almost 8 years now from it’s launch. You probably don’t know one simple rule, overtaking market leader is next only to impossible. Honda can certainly gain market share as Indian market expands, but it can never be no.1, coz Splendor, Passion, Pulsar.. these are brands now, they are not products any more.

@ Velutha…… Bajaj is not at all squeezing vendors & employees, ur perception is too foolish.
Bajaj pays the highest pay for freshers among the automobile industry of INDIA.
the Vendors of bajaj is very much emotionally attached rather than professional.
ofcourse bajaj gives the highest returns to vendors than HONDA.
if u see the reputation of HONDA among the vendors its the worst followed by TVS & Yamaha.

still BAJAJ gives value to money bikes & earns highest profit than HONDA.
only INDIANS know how to sell products in INDIA, not a japanese.
Honda is here in INDIA to earn money not development of INDIA.
BAJAJ atleast brings new technology & gives employment to Indians not like HONDA who brings japanese people for their core R&D, and recruit Indians as workers.
Bajaj AutoRickshaws give the highest self employment in INDIA

Hi Guys, please correct me if i am wrong. I’ve one question here. Something not related to this topic. My question is, will the New Pulsar will display the same Two Tone color scheme as depicated in the picture above. Is there going to be any change in the colour scheme? The reason why i am asking is there was a picture flowing on the internet when i tried to google Pulsar 200 NS it displayed not so good looking all blue Pulsar 200 NS. Which i found not so appealing compared to what was launched originally by Mr. Rajiv Bajaj.

So is this the final version or just a test mule and being captured sometime back?

To make your life simpler:

To add to my earliar comment. The decals are also missing. So i suspect this being the final ride. Any suggestions. If this is the one it would perhaps disappoint me.

Congrats Neil for the great comment appearing on MB.

The decals, if you mean Pulsar written will be there on the end bike ofcourse. Other than that I don’t see any decals on the bike. The side black panel should be there on the final bike otherwise it would not look that good. I assume this is a test bike for now since launch has not happen.

Neil February 21, 2012 at 8:57 pm

Thanks Heap Abhishek,

Yes the side panel looks to have body paint and it doesnt jell with the overall aspects. The decals on the tank and 200 NS sticker on the rear + the 4 valve red sticker on the side panels are all missing. So for some reason even i thought that has to be the test mule.

Anyways i am eagerly waiting for the bike to be road launched!!

Neil the Pulsar 3D logo and 200 NS sticker will be there. Its quite obvious. Previous gen pulsars also had them though not so nice as the current one. U be assured it will be there. Most probably side panel will also be there. That is a very important part in new pulsar. I hope its certainly there. Ur welcome biker.

Neil February 21, 2012 at 10:18 pm

@Abhishek: Yes certainly the side panel has to be there. i am talking about the colour theme. Which is think is not body coloured instead the way they have been depicted in the picture above. I am just concerned about the could combinations and it has to be dual tone color as shown the launch Pulsar NS.

Coz when i saw this blue pulsar with side panels and all in one theme looked not so happening and losing on aesthetics front.

Lets hope they are as radical as displayed when it comes to colors.

Neil February 21, 2012 at 10:29 pm

Thanks Abhishek: Clears my doubt, this has to be the test mule being registered. Coz for sure they have to get all the running bikes regsitered. Also missing engine logos and monograms.
