My name is Vidit Kalra and I am a student in Delhi university. This is my 2007 model Bajaj Pulsar 200, to which i went ahead and modified into a fusion of R15 and Pulsar. Some people might say that the originality of the bike has been destroyed or whatsoever, but I wanted a new look (credit goes to the new Pulsar 180 and 150 which leave no difference in the looks between them and the late Pulsar 200cc). Hence, I went ahead to give it a new look. I got it custom made and the cost of the mod is Rs. 35,000/-…!
The mods are : -
- Clip-on handle bar
- Custom made front fairing
- Custom made rear and front mudguard
- Number plate mount
My bike has done 20000kms and I didn’t want a new R15 nor did I want it to look like the R15. I just wanted a different look from the other Pulsars. There has not been much effect on the milege after the mods. My bike gives me roughly around 40kms per litre. I find the bike heavy as compared to earlier days, also I personally feel that there’s a downfall in the pick-up but according to castrol bike zone mechanics, it’s fine. May be what i feel is psychological. The top speed I have been able to do on my bike after the mod is 121kmph at 9000Rpm.
How many kms have you done? How many do you do everyday?
20k till date and I travel around 100kms a day from home to college and vice versa on busy roads of Delhi.
When and how did your love for cars/bikes or both start?
I have always been a lover of the sound of the exhaust. Yamaha R1 was the first bike that got my interest and thus it developed further on and on. True, I cannot afford a R1, but I tried my best to create a bike that is different from all and unique and here I am.
Why is your car/bike so special to you?
I got it all. THE MODIFICATION done in my presence..! Everyday 8-10 hours for 3 weeks…! Phew, hard days those were…! :p But the reward seems to be sweet…!
What do you love the most about your car/bike?
I guess because i converted my red Pulsar into this black n wild green coloured beast..! My imagination says that the new color can resemble that of a dark black forest with green wild grass…! May be that’s why I call it WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A RED BEAST MEETS A BLACK WILD JUNGLE.
Which is your dream car/bike?
Car: Lamborghini Gallardo
Bike: Yamaha R1
Which car/bike sold in India is your current favourite?
Car:- The new Accord 3.5
Bike:- My modified bike, its got all what everybody wants
Any advice for Motorbeam readers?
Guys, this is one site you want to bookmark. It has everything that a young bike enthusiast needs to know about bikes and cars. It really helped me while I was modifying my bike. I took a lot of ideas from here..!

WTF!!! DAmn!!
@Vidit – no body want’s your modded bike.. it will get killed on the street by the original P200 / R15.
@the others – i dunno what you’ll see but where are the clean lines for you ppl? Yes, the fairing is good, only because its a straight lift from the R15. The lines aren’t smooth flowing – wherever does the rounded tank line manage to fit in with the sharp lines of the R15 fairing?
@ the last pic – it still looks like a cheap joke – you look like an average sized indian in height and still don’t manage to crouch down behind the bike. tch tch! 35k for what? you could have sold your 200 and gone for a used R15 for about 60-70k.
I must say however the flames on the bike are fabulous !

hey buddy @ above..
do your parents thrash you every night or does your wifegf nags at you every single moment..
i wonder where you got those skills from…amazing man….
however..
i appreciate your comments though…
but seriously,
for your first comment–you ain;t everybody, so don;t answer for nobody…:p..nobody is giving you the bike..and yea, my bike has been on the street for more than 5 months and has clocked around 7k kmz after the modification and does what it does the best…smokes the streets..so, SHUT UP…:p
for your second comment…I am not trying to create a perfect bike over here. I know it lacks that punch but still, it manages to be a head turner and looks better than any other modified bike on the street…”"”you know that”"”…
for your 3rd comment…TRUE; i am an average sized indian..i don’t know how to crouch behind the bike……but this ain;t about me, its about the bike..
and as far as the selling part is concerned , ARE U DUMB or what…read the whole damn thing again and you’ll get your answer..!..
MAN, you’ll be a naggy wife someday..!..
:p
AS for the first 3 posts …thanx people…any help..you can contact me on radioactiveguy_vidit@yahoo.com

Hey I am from kerala, trivandrum. Your bike has made me go nuts over it. Never have I seen such a beauty.
I have some qts though.
You have not highlighted the bike’s rear mods in your pictures?
Did at all anytime your engine overheating indicator show up?
What headlights do you use?
If you have used 35w x 2 bulbs, have you changed your alternator wiring?
Over the price, r15 fairing cost about 4.5 k. Fixing around 1000. Paint job, handle, rear mud guard around 4k. What were the remaining money for?
Ps: i showed your picture to my mech and he claims to get the above mods done in 10grand.
Please do reply.
November 22nd, 2009 at 12:13 am

November 23rd, 2009 at 9:50 am
Still no reply.
November 23rd, 2009 at 9:10 pm
sorry for late reply ppl..
was out of town..!…
@ halley…
the material alone costs around 10k ..every “nut and small stuff ” costs around rs.32 per piece and there were more than 35 needed for proper fitting..!..
let alone that…the fairing plus headlights plus other stuff..comes around for 8k..
and as for the fitting..i met people fit it for me at a petty price of 1k but i din’t go for them..
they have different methods and different styles…choose what fits your budget and as to what do u want in your bike..durability or cheap jugaad..!…
the r6 number plate mount alone costs 3.5 k..!..
the paint job iz original 2k cobra for 15k..
so, i guess u know till now where i am going with this..
hope that answers your question…
November 23rd, 2009 at 9:12 pm
the above post should answer the questions of everyone about cost, i guess..!..
rest you can consult your nearest yamaha deal shop for exact price..!..
November 27th, 2009 at 2:35 pm
nice chap, can i do it with karizma also
November 28th, 2009 at 9:14 pm
no idea buddy..!…
i guess u can..
consult ur local mechanic for da same…
November 29th, 2009 at 3:42 pm

December 6th, 2009 at 8:42 pm

December 7th, 2009 at 8:04 am
Dude, that some incredible work done there. gotta give yourself a pat on the back for that one.
December 7th, 2009 at 3:07 pm
Hey buddy,
very nice work done. I just want to ask that from where did u make the whole stuff fitted.
From the Yamaha people or 4om sm where else….
December 7th, 2009 at 3:27 pm
and one thing more, did u replace ur stock battery??.. if yes then which battery u r using nw??
December 7th, 2009 at 6:36 pm
what about the lightings and the engine temperature. anyway the best and one of the coolest mod i have ever seen.
December 7th, 2009 at 11:49 pm
nah..
the battery is still stock..
works pretty fine as of now..
not as bright as the R15…
but it’s okay for me since i dont drive much at night
December 10th, 2009 at 2:53 am
Yeah many people say much only a few do!
Its a new trend instead of going for a cheap plastic and saving some money & the paints going off, you can modify the existing with the new and a company one .. Its cool man i like the faring and the flame design , I thought of going for a 220 when some people said it is not economical, so went for this beast 200, yet it is fast and economy, now its done around 15k now i am deciding to put a 220 faring or a ZMA New one (if available)bec it is not even released, or a R15 so i was just searching for any mod in that range, you DID IT MAN!!!! I was just thinking how it would look after the MOD but thanks to you man!!!!! Now I know how it looks, Yeah man you took the risk of changing the whole look of the bike but its something new Bec those Porbikeing people have released all the pulsars in the same way,
When I was riding with my girlfriend she spotted a New p150 and she said is this your kind of bike.
So people couldn’t decide or spot any big difference in the bike since the 180 and the 150 all look the same.
This is really another cool way of bringing a second look on my bike.
Thanks to you buddy.
December 12th, 2009 at 1:28 am
thanks man…that comment cheered me up..!..
it was d same reason i went ahead for d mod…
and it feels amazing when ppl ask u “bhaaisaab , ye konsi byk hai “….?..
lolx..and ‘kya byk banaai hai yaar”…etc…etc..
trust me man, nothing matches that feeling when you get to know that people are appreciating your hardwork…!..
December 13th, 2009 at 9:18 am
Dont worry about the people who say that your bike looks bad the people who complaint dont take risk but life itself is a risk, It is different, I am also gonna change the faring of mine to R15 in a few days will post the pic when the job is done, the mech said it would cost around 12K for the faring also with the fixing cost, and i dont think i am going for the grafix cause i like it plain in my bike. And I am going for a tune up of my bike and as well as remote security. The tune up would cost around 10K changing of the bore, but they said I would have to wait for 2 months as for the testing is going on in the track. I am not a track rider but the bike mech is one so he has to test my bike first for it so i have to wait. And my friends told to go for a monoshock also it cost around 5/k aprox but I am not sure.
December 16th, 2009 at 11:57 am
would u like to sell ur bike………?
December 19th, 2009 at 12:24 pm
@ aditya..!…
if i get a good offer….
i wont mind selling the bike..!…
as i am more into cars now..!..
December 24th, 2009 at 4:23 pm
Hi Sir,
You are really fantabulous, nice bike man.
Hey I want to modify my bike Pulsar 150 can i do that?
I want your help plz reply me early as soon as possible..
Thanks……
December 25th, 2009 at 3:32 am
Hmm..I see you have a very healthy ego Mr Vidit; however plz clarify few points…What is the change in weight of your pulsar?…How much is the cooling system affected by the full fairing?…How well the added fairings coping up with the wind at high speed?
I believe for all the above questions your answer will be that you are actually facing some issue… if you are being true to yourself.
Agreed the bike you created does add a second look..but personally this customizaton is not worth it as the bike seems to be going through identity crysis..
Modifications that will look good on pulsar are somewhat on the lines of KTM duke or Ducatti monster..Ie a naked bike modification; for the money spent you would have got a real stunner sans the issues.
I fail to understand the fullfairing dreams of indian bikers…it’s purpose is cutting wind …frankly 121 KMPH is a speed for kids. You don’t need a full fairing. If you want to be a poser it’s fine but trust me it hardly puts a impression on anyone these days. Personally I own a R15 and a Pulsar and you know what if you really wanna know the difrence try riding both on twisties. In the world of speed handling is the key… I am definite with low slung bar and high knee posture you are only breaking your back; your handling should utterly “SUCK”( tough kindly pardon my language…but stick with the sentiment)
I love pulsars as they are mad rockets between your thighs and i love R15s because they are a perfect track tool for beginers…600 units of superbikes are sold in delhi alone per year and you think your bike will standout? Maybe yes in places like Chandni chowk or Purani Delhi. ( kindly pardon the sarcasm too)
However nice try …piece of advice change ur handel bar with the new clipons from the Bajaj for 200s and 220s. the ride posture should be better after that.
December 25th, 2009 at 11:09 am
change in weight wasnt much coz d fairing iz plastic and was accompanied by taking out leg guards etc..
aerodynamics seem to b dont affected much either…bike iz steady at high speeds and is not affected by the wind..
for the cooling part- bike seems to get heated up earlier than before coz it is an air cooled engine not an oil cooled one..dis was expected..

i personally dont like naked bikes or street bikes..!..
its a matter of personal choice i guess..!..i am more inclined towards fully-fraired bikes like the yamaha r1 and cbr fireblade…
putting an impression on others or not iznt into picture ; the bike should look good to you first..others will like it neway…
as for the handling..!…u are free to ride it anyday..just contact me..u’ll know it urself..!..
i dont ride fast rash etc etc…speed of 121kmph on delhi roads..
i stick to my minimum of 60-100..
not into tracks , nor into racing..!..

y compare it with superbikes buddy..!..
200cc to a litre bike…
or a 1 lakh bike to a 12 lk bike…
iz dat a fair comparison…???
thats like compairing maruti sx4 with a ferrari…
However nice try …piece of advice change ur handle bar with the new clipons from the Bajaj for 200s and 220s. the ride posture should be better after that.

i did try the 220 clip-ons but they dont giv the proper stance…
they are high for my bike as the handlebars should be able to move freely between the visor..
i am willing to clarify all your queries..!..so, if uv got more..i wont mind answering dem too..!..
and yeah..the bike has done 8k after the modification..!…and its been around 7months yet..!
also, the total odo reading as of now is around 23k….
just for the record..!..

yes, they sell parts of the fairing as separate…
so, you need to purchase it part by part along with the screws and some other hookups..

@ adil.
hi, i have not taken any permission from the RTO as the proces was time consuming and involved various formalities..
although i once had a chance to ask a traffic poilicmen if i could change the color of my bike without taking any permission of some sort etc..
and thus he guided me as to i can go along with it without any issues provided i behave diplomatically upon getting caught..wasnt a big deal..
also, it may come as a shocking news to you that i havent been caught in delhi even after 8-9 months of the modification..
secondly, d graphics may cost u anywhere between 3-7 k provided on the quality etc etc..
