The owners of Ducati Motorcycles are looking at selling of the Italian brand in 2012. The interested buyers who could pick up the Italian superbike manufacturer include BMW, Mahindra and Volkswagen. The current owners of Ducati are Investindustrial who are looking at 1 billion Euro from the sale. Ducati is not on the stock market and the owners are looking at an individual buyer to pick up Ducati. Currently Ducati does not have a strong support in countries outside of Europe.
Mahindra recently exited Engines Engineering and might look at Ducati as a serious option to jump start its 2-wheeler division. All the three companies are very strong financially, while BMW already has a full fledged and successful motorcycle division. Volkswagen could see Ducati as a sensible buy as the German automaker has an excellent distribution network globally. While for Mahindra, Ducati will bring them expertise in motorcycles along with years of R&D.

Fas Mahindra might be earning good but not as much to buy a Ducati company I assume. Ducati is a succesful superbike company no doubt. BMW have their own bike division so they might not buy. VW seems to be the most competitive one. They are so big into cars and a top bike company like Ducati will make them own a big 2 wheeler company also.
Abhisek, you are seriously under estimating the cash strength of Mahindra. They can easily purchase companies as big as Ducati without any leverage.
OMG Indian Companies r going Multinational esp Mahindra & Bajaj Auto (owning 40% KTM, 20% stakes Kawasaki Motorcycles). In between Fas did u check the video of Pulsar 200 NS by overdrive & xbhp. No intention of comparing anythng but the videos are mindblowing.
xbhp review is outstanding and theres a part where the camera is fit near the left legand the accelerating sound of the bike is outstanding. For a moment I thought I am watching Motogp or WSBK race.
Similarly in overdrive vid, I was amazed to see how the (expert) rider could bend the bike at speeds around 85-90km/h. Thrs a superb portion in the vid where the biker stops the bike in between the track. Accelerates with full strength and the bike reaches 100kmph definitely before 10secs could reach its target.
You would have seen it but if not pls dont miss both of them.
Abhisek, yes Indian companies have much better financial management then foreign companies. Yes I did check those videos and they are awesome indeed. No doubt that the perimeter frame works well. Also I have always been a fan of the Pulsars sound and the 200 NS sounds very sweet. The KTM Duke 200 sounds choked in comparison.
