Hero Motocorp termed as the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer has launched its flagship model, the Impulse under its new identity. The Impulse is the country’s first and the only till date dual purpose motorcycle to take care of both on and off roads. By launching this bike, Hero Motocorp has created a new segment altogether in the Indian 2 wheeler market. The Impulse is powered by a 150 cc motor that produced 13.2 BHP of power at 7500 RPM and a healthy torque of 13.4 Nm at 5000 RPM. It comes with solid knuckle guards, sporty high mount muffler, large and raised durable sporty fenders, straight pull spokes and motocross seat for the real off-road experience. It also features nitrox-gas filled mono-shock rear suspension which ensures a smooth ride on roughest of terrains, high ground clearance with large front wheel with stud-type tread pattern tyres and large front disc brakes. The Impulse has been launched at an attractive price of Rs. 66,800 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It is going to be available in 5 colours- Black, Vibrant Blue Metallic, Sports Red, Leaf Green Metallic and Vibrant Orange.

“Impulse – the first model to be launched under our new brand identity – is not just a new product. It also introduces an entirely new segment within the motorcycle market, i.e. the ‘on-road-off-road’ segment. This is a dual-purpose bike, which can be used on regular city roads as well as on off-road terrain. With the attractive price tag, we are sure ‘Impulse’ is going to bring a lot of cheer and added excitement for our customers this festive season. And so, we have planned to make Impulse available for test rides and purchase at several locations across the country ahead of Diwali,” Mr. Anil Dua, Senior VP (Marketing and Sales), Hero MotoCorp, said.

Love this bike, perfect for Indian road :P, a very practical tourer..

This can replace the ultimate tourer tag from the legend ZMA..

Perfect for rally lovers also..

just one complain, little higher CC and more power would have been best..

Dear, this can not take tourer tag as its engine is small and it lacks fairing which protect you from wind resistance. also the riding position is not relaxed.

Fas thnx for adding new pics, what is your opinion about the bike…is it priced well according to the features?…the rear brake drum seems to be a little small. please add full specifications and a test drive soon with video. :)

Ninu, your most welcome. I can’t comment much on the bike as I am yet to ride it, but looks quite interesting and should work well on our roads.

Why they have provided disk brake on the left side of the wheel, the brake hose looking ugly going from right side of the handel to the left side of the handelbar, as you can see in the pics.

@fas:

Do u have any idea about the registration problem of R15v2 in Chennai. My bike also in hold for this issue. As per Chennai RTO the bike is not safe for the pillion riders as it has a very aggressive position. So for solo rider registration its not a issue, but pillion sit is still a problem.

Can you pls update reg this issue.

Sorry for posting it here.

Chinmay, I am sorry but I am not aware of the RTO issue with the Yamaha R15 Version 2.0. But I did hear about RTO not giving clearance due to lack of pillion safety.

Aaaah, here it comes. The form of the NXR, and a tweaked engine of the Uni. Good thing to see is the max torque being made at 5000 rpm. Lets see how good the suspension is. Mumbai roads are getting worse day by day.

Keeping in the mind the very first dirt style bike that can be used in the city too but, although it will look a bit too odd in the city, but for a highway, 13.2 BHP is quite less again if we talk about Hero Motocorp’s strategy, they are quite targeting what is currently not present in India, Some people will definitely like it but many will not.. May be in the long run, it can have some benefits for Hero Moto, but again, speaking about launching of proper performance category bikes, we are not getting them from any company except for Honda and Bajaj and to an extent Yamaha too who have initialized there first step in the market. But you cannot expect more as HERO has still lot to go left. Dirt style bikes will not be preferred by daily commuting people as Hero for keeping the costs low might have shared some parts with other bikes of theres but that can not help for people of 35 – 40+. They will still prefer something more normal looking rather than investing a good 66000 in the bike having this type of looks. Rather than concentrating on this stuff Hero should better plan a 150 – 250cc category bike in which people would be more interested in buying at present as this is the current booming market in India. Well, thats just one thought.

Very nice move from Hero! First in the segment in recent years (Forget the one from Bajaj years ago). They should give the option of a 225 CC engine (ZMR). Hero Moto Corp please keep in mind KTM 950 adventure as an idol for such kind of bikes.
