There was a time when people thought and bought only 100 and 110 cc commuter bikes. Bike riding was for those who couldn’t afford a four wheeler. But times have changed now and owning a bike has changed from being a mere means of commuting to a style statement to flaunt and brag about. This is where the 150cc and above displacement bikes come in as weapons. The 150cc segment buyers are spoilt for choice with products from Bajaj and Hero Honda and international biggies like Honda and Yamaha. One of the latest entrants to this fiercely competitive zone is the Honda Unicorn CB Dazzler.
Honda already has a good foothold in this segment with their product: Honda Unicorn. But the folks just decided to heat it up a bit with the Dazzler and I must say; they have indeed done the exact thing!!!
Ok, now first things first, let’s talk about its styling. The bike has been well styled with many design cues derived straight from the Honda CB liter class bikes like the CB 1000 RR (that is also the reason it is called the “CB” Dazzler). One of the eye candies are the small side fairings provided which hug the fuel tank. The head lights look more menacing also. The big tail lights are also quite impressive!!
On the performance front, the motor is quite similar to the one used in the Unicorn though it has been slightly tweaked to provide 14 bhp of power @ 8500 RPM while the torque figures remain the same at 1.3 kgm @ 6500 RPM. On paper though you may think that there is not much of a change but you can certainly feel the difference while riding. The power delivery is more responsive and thanks to the weight reduction, it is very quick off the line. It does a 0 to 60 kmph sprint in just about 5 seconds and goes all the way to 120 kmph.
The riding position and the handling are also improved. The bike sports a lower center of gravity thus making it more agile than the Unicorn in corners. It is quite a good feature considering the excellent traffic situations especially in the metros. The seating though is not quite the type for long rides. You are sure to get your feet and the back numb if you try that!! The thigh support is nicely carved out in the fuel tank giving you a good feeling of being firmly planted to the road. This is also complemented with the new 80/100 17-M/C 46P (front) and 110/80 17-M/C57P (rear) tires. The suspension has been stiffened a bit giving you a very precise handling. It is a six step adjustable one though, in case you feel the ride too hard.
The braking is vastly improved with the addition of 220 mm rear discs!!!
The instrument cluster has been changed to digital from the analog one in the Unicorn. It is a no frills, just what is required kind of display with speed, RPM (this remains analog though) and fuel level. In broad day light, it becomes somewhat difficult to clearly see what it is showing. It does not feature an ignition kill switch also, which was a let down again.
A tiny but really cool feature that we liked was the shape of the rear view mirrors. It’s a polygonal shaped one and appealed really funky to us. All in all, it is quite a good choice with a fuel economy of 60 kmpl (claimed) and at a price of 67,502/- (ex showroom, Mumbai) if you want something more than just a Unicorn.

very nice looking bike, very modern and funky !
I own Honda Unicorn and CB Dazzler. My dazzler is now 1 week old. After 300km of riding I feel this bike is powerful than old Unicorn. But I think Unicorn’s engine is very quite as compared to dazzler. I did a solo ride of 680 km from chennai to cochin on honda unicorn and I was very confortable after ride. I donno long ride confort in dazzler. I have to try it after my break in period. So far I liked dazzler, in looks, power and confort. U-turn radius is very small compared to Unicorn. This bike is really awesome is chennai traffic.
Nice Review Joydeep Chatterjee!!!!. Looking from long time.
Can anyone tell me to choose between new hunk(rear disk brake) and Dazzler.
Price is almost same for both.
Hunk gives me a big bike feel nd better ergonomics where dazzler gives me long trust as hero honda is nw hero only.

This guys is **** head who thinks who know a lot about bikes, i have been riding bikes for 7 years now and had CBZ star which was the best bike for me until i bought dazzler which is undoubtedly one of the best bike in the market for country like ours, giving excellent mileage and the performance when needed be.

Thanks for your valuable information
Guys,
My dazzler gonna complete 10k kms and all i can say is its simply amazing.
This incomplete review missed the main point. Dazzler has no kickstart. It has only selfstart. If you park dazzler for 1 week and then use selfstart, ooops it wont start. Dazzler battery is too weak. Selfstart fails in cold and rainy weather. You have to push bike, put in gear, and jump on it. If selfstart fails at traffic signal, then what to do? Big problem. Many customers have problem with dazzler battery and selfstart problem.
Dear Antony,
You are talking about the kick start, I do agree that the dazzler misses on kick start, but have you actually used it in order to make the comment that it doesn’t start and self start fails in traffic.
from the experience of dazzler i have never had this problem and no matter how much rain is there i can just start the bike at once even without the use of choke.
So, please do not make bullshit comment, on the things that you don’t know about.
Dear dazzled!
I think you are honda sales guy. What bullshit? Just because your bike has no problem, it does not mean others have no problem. Removing kicker and giving low-power 4 ah battery in dazzler is just illogical by honda.
Yes cars also have only selfstart, but dont compare with cars. Cars have very powerful 30 Ah to 100 Ah batteries, and also cars have fuel injection, not carburetor like bikes. Do you know all this??
My comment is based on practical situation, so you keep your bullshit comment to yourself.
Hey guyz, I own a CB Dazzler …and trust me its Once in a Lifetime moment..its an awesome bike with all the required features needed for a long riding experience. And trust me you wont get bored unlike other hooligans who talk against this bike. But people who know Honda won’t have such things in mind. I stay abroad and my bike was not been used for almost 3.5 months. Now, you would think that it’s battery would have gone dead by this time as i had in mind earlier but to my amazement i discovered that even after my bike was not in use for 3.5 months it still started ( it started after I switched to choke mode) without much of a difficulty.
After this personal experience i wanted to posts my comment here…
Trust me guyz those who are intending to buy this bike well you should just go for it… After all its HONDA…!!!!!!!!!1
Hello James!
Just because we talk about dazzler’s problems, you cant call us hooligans. Just because your dazzler has no selfstart problem, does not mean that all dazzlers have no problem. So, keep your hooligan comments to yourself. Enquire with other dazzler owners. Selfstart prob is there in at least 30% dazzlers.
Even fz16 has no kickstart, but fz16 selfstart is more reliable than dazzler. Despite this, now yamaha has launched new Fz with kickstart option. Hope honda learns from yamaha and gives kickstart option for dazzler.
Honda dazzler is sold in indonesia with the name megapro, and this megapro has kickstart option. So, why cant honda give kickstart option in dazzler? Honda takes Indian customers are fools who buy anything based on honda brandname.
Excellent.
I test ride it today. Its fantastic.Better exp. than pulsar series..and I am going for it. I costs around 76,000/- in Pune including all the accessories.
Honda Rocks!!
I think what Antony is saying is right. I’ll get my dazzler in a week. When I went to the Honda showroom (Marikar, Trivandrum) and tried to get a test drive, they told its battery is having complaint. I am really tensed about the performance of the battery. I am buying this bike because the overall opinion, apart from the battery, is so good.
So guys is it possible to replace a battery with more power…..of same size…
I am using Honda Dazzler for one month… Really good feel,Good Performance,Smooth … millage 52-55 in city conditions(Chennai)….. I m very much Happy with Dazzler….
Hi guys ..i am having Unicorn pls give me tips…what are the things i have to follow before first service..like using choke is must for starting? then…fuel tank should be in which position when the bike is in idle…use of putting in reserve position…wat is difference between putting in reserve position & seeing directly fuel availability in display?
Sasi777, just drive it like a baby, don’t be harsh with it in terms of acceleration and braking.
Hi pls go for unicorn dazzler very comfort…
