Honda CBR150R Bookings Started, Price Rs. 1.35 Lakhs

[singlepic id= 9580 w=540 h=375 float=center]

Honda Motorcycle has just commenced bookings for the CBR150R, which can be booked at any Honda showroom for Rs. 1000/-. The 2012 Honda CBR150R has been launched with deliveries starting by mid April 2012. The Japanese automaker has just commenced production of the Honda CBR150R at its Indian facility and will position their latest offering against the KTM Duke 200. Honda will be offering two variants of the CBR150R to Indian consumers, one will be the standard variant, which will be available in regular colours, while the other will be the deluxe variant available in the orange-white combo (some what like the Respol Honda racing colours). The Honda CBR150R is priced at Rs. 1.34 lakhs for the standard variant and Rs. 1.35 lakhs for the deluxe variant (prices are on-road, Mumbai), which is significantly more than its nearest competitor, the Yamaha R15 (on-road price Mumbai – Rs. 1.20 lakhs).

Honda is targeting close to 3500 units of the CBR150R every month, which is quite optimistic looking at the pricing of the bike. The Honda CBR150R is powered by a 150cc, DOHC, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, producing 18 PS of peak power at 10,500 RPM and 12.6 Nm of peak torque at 8500 RPM. Mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the lower capacity CBR250R sibling uses a mono shock suspension at the rear. The bike features 276mm disc at the front, at 220mm disc at the rear. Could Honda surprise everyone by offering combi-ABS on the CBR150R?

The price seems to be in-line with what we have been hearing for some days now. A Rs. 1.15 lakhs pricing was doing the rounds a few weeks ago, which is in-line with the price we have revealed today. At Rs. 1.15 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), the CBR150R will be around Rs. 1.20 lakhs (ex-showroom, Mumbai), resulting in an on-road price of Rs. 1.34 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai). But at this price, the only reason why a person would opt for the CBR150R over the R15 Version 2.0 is the relaxed riding position. The Yamaha R15 continues to be more striking as far as looks go, while the performance of both the machines can’t be compared without riding the CBR150R.

    Honda could not used the hype which Indian enthusiasts had for the CBR150 tag.. A every low and slow launch..

    However this will offer a good choice for those who didn’t buy R15 with a back pain complain..

    This bike was really a much awaited bike for last 4 years of so..

      There are quite a few fools like me, who goes for a R15 over a P220 though its less priced more bhp and more “Racing” word all over it image..

        There are some fools like those are buying a 2000 CC diesel Audi A4 by spending 32 lakhs , instead of buying a 2200 CC scorpio worth 10 lakhs …. they are really fools for spending 22 lakhs extra for the same engine power na …..

          OH.. so that is supposed to be funny, but Mr. I know all guy, in this case you got Duke 200 costing the same with 25Hp power. R15 at about 20k less, with same power & more torque. Why do you want to buy a CBR150, which doesn’t offer anything over an R15. I don’t know if Duke & R15 are scorpios in your opinion, if so best of luck!

            Why you are prefering pulsar ??? There are many bikes like Hero Hunk, CBZ, Honda Unicorn, Dazzler, TVS Apache, Suzuki GS150 etc in 150CC class ….

    • Faisal March 16, 2012, 1:04 am

      Pulsarboy, actually many will, because it is a DOHC engined bike with perimeter frame and Honda name.

      • Pulsarboy March 16, 2012, 4:27 am

        Come on FAS, you really think it can match a trellis frame with 25 HP DOHC engine with 20 NM torque, which is priced at the same level? As per the perimeter frame, it’s nothing new and is already available in R15 & is gonig to be on P200NS. I hope someone knocks some sense into Honda about the pricing, otherwise this might just go the Jazz way. The day Bajaj decides to release P200 with fairing, no one will give a second look at this underpowered bike. DOHC engine is good, but I don’t think it can make up for that huge gap in power & torque. They would have atleast thrown in ABS to compensate it to an extent.

          1.34 Price is a real disappointment.
          For ppl who have issue with extending der budget will prefer R15 2.0 or Pulsar 200NS(beter power) or KArizma R(who want comfort and reliability).
          For other its any day beter to shell out 30-40k and get cbr250r

          Pulsarboy, agreed that the Pulsar will offer much more but remember the Honda brand name itself commands a significant portion of the value of the CBR150R.

    High Price Tag…. Atleast at the booking they have said the full specification (ABS presences or not). Better to choose KTM or R15 2.0. For honda guys better choose 250R.

    I think the price is high and if this made in India majority of the parts being localised, then why this piece has to be priced so high. What prowees it has is only when some expert drives it around. But I still think its missing the appeal that a R15 carries in abundance. Whats the deluxe in here, colour change???? For god sake ask them to stop dupping people for mere Rs 1000 upgrade and that too nothing phenominal you charge 5K extra. Whats so appealing when it has nothing to do with performace.

    I could have understood if the deluxe being ABS and having ECU remapped. But again its a crap. Whether someone actually buys it or not the whole gist of performance biking is lost. Provided its a Honda NSR with 150 CC two stoke engine and a stunning 30 BHP. These Honda India people are just following the Hero moto corp footsteps.

      Neil 2-stroke won’t get launch approval due to emission norms. I am waiting to see Honda’s response post the launch of the Pulsar 200NS.

        I afreed faisal,

        Our shitty emission regulations will not allow to enter so called ” all 150cc’s BAAP” Honda nsr 150.

        anyways there is much possibility that Honda will launch its Twister 300cc in India to give answer to the P200NS!! (u can already see it in the promo of “Son Of Sardar” movie)

        but at whats price????

        • Faisal Khan August 5, 2012, 10:31 pm

          Xan, the Twister will not be able to rival the Pulsar 200 NS, atleast not on price.

      Actually the Engine is completely imported from Thai Honda…thats why it is costlier…otherwise its price would have been same as of R15 v2.0
      But i would say…the quality og engine is too gud..very smooth…

    Its around Rs. 1.30L on road in Kolkata, pay just 20k more and you are getting CBR250..

    CBR150 -> 150cc / 17ps @ 1.30L
    CBR250 -> 250cc / 25ps @ 1.52L

    Why would some one take the more expensive CBR150 over a better looking R15 ?? Why even if some one does, then why wont he pay just 20k extra for a 250cc product ???

        DUKE is made by Bajaj i think ?? and sorry unless KTM has done some serious modification in Bajaj cheap price / cheap product via compromising quality and reliability issue, i personally wont lean to trust it with compare to Honda / Kawasaki / Yamaha / even in fact HERO what we trust them for..

    Cbr is costly….. Okay. Keep aside the price…. Compare Pulsar 150 and CBR150R. Why to compare with p220… Bajaj uses steel. And honda and yamaha uses aluminium and carbon fiber, which are much costlier than steel…..

    The honda enters the market of supersport 150cc segment category 4 years after the launch of R15 and is still doesn’t offer more. The r15 is rich in features and technology and even looks great, If you look at cbr panels ,it looks so cheap and doesn’t make up for the money we pay and It is not a hungry beast as it should be because of low torque. for this price definitely ABS should be installed for our satisfaction!
