Honda Motorcycle launched the CB Unicorn Dazzler in Mumbai at Intercontinental, the Lalit. The company has priced the CB Unicorn Dazzler at Rs. 67,080 (ex-showroom, Mumbai) and the bike is available in only one variant – self start with dual disc brakes. The company has targeted the bike at youngsters and college students and has focused on performance along with good mileage (60 kmpl claimed). We had a small test ride of the Dazzler and we found the bike impressive. The slight increase in power is noticeable and the bike picks up at low speeds with more enthusiasm.
As promised here we asked Honda President & CEO Mr. Shinji Aoyama questions.
1. Pranav had asked - “Honda has costliest But most powerful bike in 100cc segment : CB TWISTER. Honda has costliest But most powerful bike in 125cc segment : CBF STUNNER. Then why didn’t they maintained this in 150cc , with this model? Like, CB DAZZLER WITH HIGHEST BHPs ?
Answer from Honda – The CB Unicorn Dazzler has more power and higher top speed than the regular Unicorn. We are targeting the bike to the youth and we think this amount of power is very good for the target market. We know they always want more and we always try to give our customers the best.
2. Amit asked – “Why they are not launching any new products like any 250cc bike.”
Answer from Honda – Currently we are not planning to launch any 200cc bike but yes we are planning to get into higher cc segment and will do so accordingly. We want to compete in the 150cc above bikes and are currently contemplating the products to be launched in this segment.
Our opinion on the CB Unicorn Dazzler : -
- It is priced very well. For Rs. 4,000/- premium over the regular Unicorn it offers digital instrumentation and rear disc brakes.
- The digital instrumentation is one of the best we have seen on a 150cc bike, the revv counter goes all the way till 11,000 rpm at start up.
- The Dazzler offers slightly more power than the Unicorn and that is a boon on low speeds.
- Quality is excellent. Some thing which we now take for granted from a Honda.
- The CB Unicorn under cuts the Yamaha Fazer by a significant price.
- Maintenance free battery means no need of top ups and you won’t miss kick start.
- The CB Dazzler will sell like hot cakes, its a very good bike and probably the best 150cc bike in the country.
- Some very interesting colours on offer.

SK901, Honda is slow because they know people will wait for their products. The Dazzler is slightly better than the Unicorn and should take around 6 months to reach Nepal.

thanx fas for information…after reading from ur posts i think cb dazzler will probably be one of the best bikes of 150cc… i trust u on this mater..as u r the one who has already taken a test drive…but i think i shud opt for cb unicorn for now ..i dont think i can wait for 6 months…and maybe opt for dazzler later..
May 22, 2010 at 3:21 pm
SK901, well if you can wait nothing like it. Else get the Unicorn. I am not sure about the Nepal launch. Could be sooner too. Why don’t you ask the dealers?

i wud rate this bike as better upgrade not the best.
>if you want style and u think can maintain a bike pretty well thn put arnd 10k extra for FZ..
but i must tel you it gives avrge of 40-45 kms/litr
plus i ve cruised it for 170 kms nd i must say it was my wrst eva exp..its just a street dog.a decent top whack of jus 95 wher engine strts blabring.
siting posture for long ride..sux
>>CBZ extreme >wat the hero honda gys doin shading and stickring wid black and red for all their bikes!huh
dsnt luk like a 150 cc bike nd isnt wrth..talking abt engine//this one nd hunk shares the old unicorn engine otherwise this bike wud be utter flop..no digi console..arnd 48-51 of avrge..pers i pity of thse who go for this bike..hunk luks bettr but not wrth of its price.
>>GS150r>>had gud and bad exp..
low pickup and strt and midrange comp to any odr 150cc engines..6th gear pro-drive gives it a decnt comfrtble top whack of 110..
mileage s pretty gud abv 55..
heavy bike>149 kgs of kerb wt,,as its low pick and more of a tourer bike..expnsive i mean a lot ..heard from exprts tat engine strts revealing its true colors aftr a yr..
>>unicorn/cb butter smooth tried and testd engine since yrs ..decent pick up …bit expnsive widout digi console …low maint..avgr of 58+ evn wid constnt ruff whack riding.53-55 wen wid top notch of 95-100 widout vibration nd stil smooth.makes it wrth of its price nt lukin at luks its far more bttr tan odr any bike expct for FZ R15 in tat case.
lukin at dazzler..they ve tweakd the same engine with 14 bhp nd for fuel eficiency sake they ve reduced it to 138 kgs(146 in uni)with wide tires.have got commnts from trusted source tat it sprints like an apache so giftd wid rear disc wch is a boon if u no hw to ride bikes passionately.
fuel tank seems whacky on pics but on bike it feels sporty..
siting posture>nor commuter nor sporty..so go miles widout back pain nd odr issues with top notch of 110 in this butter smooth engine.
frnt luks nt appealing.price is higher but wid bomb proof engine nd features makes it wrth of 75-77 k.
but if one wants to cruise thn go for avengr..the only WORTH bike from bajaj …in tat case ninja too as its from kawasaki.

Hi ,
I want a bike which is reliable and give better mileage in 150cc segment.
I have decided to go for unicorn. Now as dazzler is also lunched I was in bit confusion.
1. Will dazzler have better stability like old UNICORN
2. Will dazzler is reliable like unicorn
3. Will i get similar millage as unicorn
Experts please guide me. I am going to book the bike this week itself.
Thanks,
Jamesh

Jamesh, you can get the Dazzler. Its a fantastic buy.
May 25, 2010 at 1:48 pm
Thanks Fas.
The bike has rear disc brake. Most of the people are telling is bit risky, if we don’t know how to use it. Is it good to have rear disc brake or not.
Can you please tell how to use rear disc brake effectively.
May 26, 2010 at 2:53 am
Jamesh, rear discs are risky if you don’t use them properly. Otherwise they are safer. It is good to have rear disc brakes. Apply front and rear brakes together for best yet safe braking performance. Once you get the hang of it, you can master the various braking techniques.

August 15, 2010 at 10:11 am
The Honda Dazzler is a good bike, but has 2 major defects , first one is a kick is missing and the second is the chain cover is missing .
These 2 major flaws would make the dazzler yet another 150 cc bike entering the market.

September 29, 2010 at 6:00 pm
where i can get the double coloured dazzler (red & white) which is near to jogeshwari!!!!!…………PLZ REPLY me fast i want t get it by 1st of OCTOBER
November 28, 2010 at 4:38 pm
Honda dazzler is not a proper sporty bike for the youth, because it does not have clip-on handles like Apache or Pulsar and also does not have the style like FZ. Even twister has a better styled headlight than dazzler. Dazzler also does not have parking lights and engine kill switch.
Dazzler is not a proper family/executive bike because it does not have kicker and has only half chain cover which is unsafe for pillion. Also, saree guard does not have foot rest for pillion. No proper mud guard for rear wheel results in dirty bike and dirty clothes for pillion.
So, dazzler is not a proper youngster’s bike nor a proper family/executive bike. Honda should make optional full chain-case like Yamaha SZ-X available for dazzler and optional saree guard with footrest. Even optional mudguard like P150 should be provided.

I do agree with Antony. Neither Honda Dazzler is sporty nor a family bike. Honda showroom guys information that chain of Dazzler has
‘O’ ring does full-proof of safety. For un-known reasons (at-least of me) Honda sells fair numbers of Unicorn compared to Dazzler and Twister.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India Limited have little or no concern about spares availability in Indian market to fit on-to its two wheelers. At earliest days should come for Honda two wheelers same as of Honda four wheeler where-in Honda lost its leadership in Honda city category and thinnest sale of Jazz. Off-course Honda city regained first rank after discounted priced sale.
