As the year end nears, biking enthusiast are not able to contain their excitement. The KTM Duke 200 will be officially on sale in January 2012 with Bajaj Auto showcasing the performance machine at the Auto Expo. Just like all high end Bajaj bikes, the Duke 200 too would be sold through the company’s pro-biking retail units. However, these pro-biking showrooms will not feature a single Pulsar and will be rebranded with KTM logos. Obviously this won’t be done for long as the next generation Pulsars will be sold through pro-biking outlets. The specification of the Duke 200 are no secret and now thanks to Rohit Paradkar, the pricing too seems to be out in the open. The KTM Duke 200 could be priced between Rs. 1.25-1.31 lakhs (ex-showroom, India), which is an absolute steal for a bike of this caliber (no pun intended). No Bajaj logos will feature on the Duke and the Chakan based automaker is very clear about keeping KTM, Bajaj and Kawasaki motorcycles as entirely different brands, even though they are manufactured/assembled at the same place.
The KTM Duke 200 is powered by a 200cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled engine which produces 25.51 BHP of peak power at 10,000 RPM and 20 Nm of peak torque at 8000 RPM. We estimate a 0 – 100 kmph time of just 6.5 seconds with a top speed of 150 kmph. Weighing just 137 kgs, the Duke 200 is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and features tasteful bits like USD telescopic forks, monoshock, investerted die-cast ultra-lighweight swingarm and wide rear tyre (150 mm). All this ensures that the Duke 200 will be a rocket on rails and will immediately set the sales chart on fire. The Honda CBR250R will soon meet its match as the Duke 200′s bookings are expected to start anytime soon.

Now!! This is NEWS!! Wow! The pricing is quite competitive! They have a winner at their hands.. Hoping that i can get my hands on this beauty..
If this is true, then that quite sounds like end of the road to CBR250/R15. Not to say that they won’t sell any more, but their sales will take a hit for sure.
Pulsarboy well said. Now only if Bajaj Auto is able to prevent waiting periods for the Duke 200.

Sandy, no updates on either bikes. The next gen Pulsar was spotted again though.
Is this a fuel injected engine? The bike is very compact and would not give the big bike feel.
