TVS Apache 220/250 Initial Testing Commences

2012 Apache Full Fairing side

TVS Motor Company had introduced the Apache motorcycle in 2007 and it came out to be a huge success for the two-wheeler manufacturer. The Apache is well known for its sporty handling characteristics and strong performance. According to our friends at ICB, TVS is now readying up bigger and sportier versions of the Apache 180. The TVS Apache 220/250 will be the flagship motorcycle for the company and has begun its initial testing at the VRDE (Vehicle Research and Development Establishment) facility in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.

VRDE is a premier automobile testing and homologation facility in India. Although TVS has started testing the upcoming Apache, it is still expected to be introduced during the 2014-15 fiscal year. The Apache 220/250 is likely to be launched in India in full faired as well as naked versions. It will be positioned above the Apache 180 with a slightly bigger price tag. The Apache 220/250 is expected to be powered by an oil-cooled engine with fuel injection system instead of a liquid-cooled engine. This motor is expected to produce 25 BHP of power and 20 Nm of torque.

For better safety and effective braking, TVS is likely to offer ABS along with twin petal disc brakes as standard on the Apache 220/250. Pricing for the upcoming Apache 220/250 is expected to be under Rs. 1.3 lakhs which will help it to compete with the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS, KTM Duke 200 and Honda CBR250R. It is not an easy task for TVS to go head on with much accomplished rivals in the Indian market like Bajaj Auto, KTM and Honda. TVS is also planning to introduce a new 125cc automatic scooter and the all new Victor motorcycle soon.

if tvs launches the bike in the picture it will definitively overthrow every other bike in it’s segment. It is the younger brother of Suzuki gsxr 750.

    I almost lost my senses….

It should be liquid cooled. Else everything is Okay.

And please dont say 220. Bajaj made a 220cc bike because their frame can’t handle power output of any thing bigger than 220cc. It was critical state of its frame… It is not any ca tegory. 250cc is the category….

Cheers to TVS MOTOR COMPANY… :D

    M very happy now…. Yahooo… :D

TVS can easily compete against Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS, But we have to watch how they crack the refinement and performance of the Honda and KTM. Good luck with the new model. With 100 % localisation, TVS and Bajaj can launch their models below the price tag of 1.5 L.

TVS should have launched it by now…. But still hero and bajaj is left to launch a 250cc bike. Tvs should not delay. The bike should be refined and performance has to be great if it want to taste success. Tvs needs to work on every small detail. Let’s wait and see what happens… Good luck TVS.

TVS can bring the bike with liquid cooling system as by now they sell 150cc liquid cooled step thru TORMAX in Indonesian market…. So they should not have any problem in bringing liquid cooled apache….
