TVS has launched a new variant of the Apache 160 RTR. The new variant of the Apache is known as the Apache RTR 160 RD and comes with a factor fitted rear disc for a premium of Rs. 2,000. The 200mm petal rear disc will give the Apache very good stopping power.

I took an RTR 160 Refresh on Nov 9th 08.
Any idea if i can get the rear petal disk on my RTR? Or do i really need to go for a major change to get the rear disk?

I am not aware whether you can get this done after you have got this bike. I think this is done at the factory level. Why don’t you ask your dealer and see what he has to say? I think it will need major changes but i hope you get the rear disk for your RTR

Rear disk I think require a rim change as a tradition rim was made to hold the drum hub. then there would be some more mechanical change. It should cost you more then 3 or 4 times of what the company is asking in addition i.e. 2k

Suhas, just check the rear brakes, if they have disk then you have a RD. the RD stands for rear disk and thats the only difference.
