Yes, we have got the details and specifications of the upcoming high performance Apache bike. Although there were speculations that the next high capacity Apache would be powered by a 220cc mill, the truth is far from it. TVS Motors has plonked in a single cylinder, 4-stroke 250cc mill which produces 30bhp at 9500rpm and 2.2kgm at 8000rpm leading to a top speed of 150 kmph. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and the bike weighs just 140kgs with 16 liters of fuel capacity. The front suspension uses telescopic forks whereas at the rear monoshock rectangular swingarm does the job. The front gets 290mm discs and the rear discs are 220mm (ABS will be optional). Front tires are 100/80 x 17 whereas the rear tyres are 130/70 x 17 bolted onto 6-spoke alloy wheels. Price is expected to be close to Rs. 1,20,000/- and the launch will happen next month.

What do you think the Apache 250 should feature? What do you think should be the price range of the bike?

Yeah Baby !! thats wat i m talkin bout .. 30 bhp n just 140 kgs . AWESOME !
but the price is a lil too high. maybe they r offering some really high quality stuff. coz they wont b able 2 justify it otherwise.

30bhp at 140kgs is impressive. Even if its 150kgs it would be fine cos the ninja 250 weighs around 172kgs with 33bhp. The accelration will be pretty insane considering all the previous apaches. But a top speed of 150kmph sounds disappointing. i expected around 165-170kmph. N is this the bike v r talking about?

If so the fairing sucks especially the headlamp..

Rattle, the bike shown in the pic is just an amateur reproduction based on the tiny glimpse of the bottom part of the bike which had been leaked on the internet. The headlight and the top parts are simply for the purpose of generating an idea on what it would be like… expect the finished product to look much much better than the P220 or even the ninja…

I don’t think that this would be the next TVS power house, although TVS is going to surprise all of us no sooner than later but a 250cc performance bike can’t be so amateurish. I expect a little mature competition from TVS.

TVS has to work on styling and should make it more sportier

Is it really gonna get launched next month? I doubt that. Considering the time TVS took to launch RTR180 since the rumors surfaced first!

I will Surely Engage to buy on of these ……because I already have a 180…& I Love Its Performence(TN)………

Hey Rattle, the pic is a fake. A full fairing can’t be bolted onto the handlebar. It’s a very poorly photoshopped pic. And the rest of the details too are pure speculation. Let’s wait patiently for some authentic news and pics. Such a bike at such a price is just for day dreaming.

Kamal March 25, 2010 at 6:47 pm

As i think this is just another rumor started circulating across India. We must have more weighted information about this bike from TVS. Lets see what happens sooner or later. This might be true or another rumor to grab more attention to the visitors.

The picture has nothing to do with the atual bike…its just photoshop job in march issue of autocar in an article where they randomly designed bikes they would like to see being launched in India…don’t worry, TVS cannot make such a dumb design on its flagship model…

|Pathetic fairing as well as Exhaust|…cool pic although.
btw, if they are providing it with ABS…
120k is a far above competition price….
still, its a good price without ABS too…
will be glad if they make it twin cylinder, 10000rpm and if want can also raise the price to 150k…:|

I want TVS to launch this 250 Power Monster in two variants one like KTM-Stunt (for stunt lovers)and another like YZF-250 (for Motocross lovers).

And if TVS has any problem (govt. issues) in launching Off-Road Bike, what they can do is, they can launch easily-convertible Off-Road bike.

Which can be easily converted for Dirt track races/motocross/supercross/Rallies with lesser modifications.

As a Apache 180 Owner – I expected a better front fairing. If ZMR got a ugly fairing ,it doesn’t mean TVS too copycat the same to their Apache’s.

If this Bike ever makes out 25bhp of Power and Above ,Forced Air Cooling and provisional Radiator(Water Cooling as add on) must be provided. In our hot climates ,Air Cooled Engines simply Melts Out with under performance .

Similarly ,TVS Service is PATHETIC and TVS Must Make it a Point to Train these fellows Properly as well as do regular Invigilations to Prevent these guys troubling Apache Owners.

Good Luck!

Nice to hear that we are getting a 30bhp bike but wish they bring out a twin cylinder instead of a single. Gives a much better feel while riding and initial pickup increases drastically..

I THINK PERFORMANCE OF THIS BIKE IS GOOD. BUT, THE LOOKS ARE NOT GOOD AT ALL. THIS IS THE UGLIEST LOOKING BIKE TVS HAS PRODUCED SO FAR AND THE CENTRE STAND HAS SPOILED THE LOOKS OF THE BIKE. CENTER STAND IS WHAT THE SPORTSBIKE DON’T HAVE ON THEM. I DON’T THINK YOUNGSTERS ARE GOING TO LIKE THE LOOKS OF THIS BIKE, R15 AND R125 ARE THE BETTER OPTION FOR LOOKS AND INDIAN BIKE MAKERS LIKE HH(ZMR) AND TVS(APACHE250) SHOULD LEARN FROM THE GREAT YAMAHA.

why do tvs always copy pulsar …without the launch of pulsar 150cc,. apache can’t be in existence today….the all new rtr 250 above shown model is the worst in apache series…..

Reply

vijay September 18, 2010 at 10:10 pm
