2014 Yamaha R1 Caught On Track Test

2014 Yamaha R1 Spied

Yamaha YZF-R1 went into production in the year 1998 and since then it has rocked the sports bike segment and bike enthusiasts to a great extent with its well known styling and strong performance. The Japanese manufacturer has recently been caught testing the next generation Yamaha YZF-R1. The testing of the next generation Yamaha R1 was taking place at a race track. The fairing of the motorcycle being tested was disguised as a Yamaha R6 but the eagle eyed viewers managed to recognize it as the next generation R1.

The 2014 Yamaha R1 will feature a new 3-cylinder engine (ditching the current R1′s 4-cylinder unit), which is expected to churn out more power over its predecessor. The most exciting change which is being talked about is the new exhaust pipe system in the upcoming R1. The next generation R1 gets rid of the underseat twin exhaust pipes and now features a single short silencer on the right side of the bike. In order to concentrate the mass in the centre, the manufacturer has now placed the short exhaust pipe just behind the engine.

Currently, the Yamaha R1 boasts of a liquid cooled, 4-stroke, 998cc, 4-cylinder unit that produces a maximum power output of 182 PS at 12,500 RPM with a peak torque figure of 115 Nm at 10,000 RPM, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The superbike sits on a diamond frame with upside down front forks and swingarm rear suspension. The 2014 Yamaha YZF-R1 is expected to feature significant changes over the current model with modern styling and improved performance characteristics. It will be launched in India subsequently after its global launch.

Hari, it is the Yamaha R1 only, the next gen one, so styling is similar to the old version.
