Yamaha India is all set to offer a refreshed version of the R15 Version 2.0 with four new paint jobs in 2013. The stunning new 2013 version of the R15 now offers a choice of Racing Blue, Invincible Black, Raring Red and Thundering Green paint jobs. The 2013 model is only updated with the paint jobs, rest of the motorcycle remains unchanged. The 2012 models of the R15 are going to be phased out from the dealerships soon. The R15 is a performance oriented motorcycle, known for its superb handling dynamics and strong engine performance.
The Yamaha R15 after its launch in the Indian market in 2008, was updated in 2011 and was re-badged as R15 Version 2.0. The motorcycle was updated with new styling, wider tires and split and raised pillion seat. For improved performance, the motorcycle was updated with a remapped ECU. The Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 is powered by a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled 150cc four stroke engine, comprising of a 4-valve SOHC system mated to a 6-speed close ratio manual gearbox.
The Yamaha R15 features a Deltabox frame with an aluminum swingarm that makes the motorcycle more agile by reducing weight. The fuel-injected motor churns out a maximum power of 17 BHP with 15 Nm of torque. The Yamaha R15, in terms of sales, is performing better than its chief rival the Honda CBR150R. However the Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS has given the R15 intense competition. The Yamaha R15 Version 2.0 comes with a price tag of Rs. 1,10,750/- for the standard colors (Black and Red), while the thundering green R15 is a special edition priced at Rs. 1,12,750/- and the racing blue R15 is a Motogp edition priced at Rs. 1,13,750/- (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
