Yamaha India will launch the new R15 by the 25th of January, 2011. The bike will feature split seats, raised rear seat, wider rear tyre, new alloy wheel design, rear wheel hugger, new exhaust, LED tail lamps and slightly more power. The new model will be costlier then the current R15 and will retain the same engine with minor tweaks.

hi guys,
this month was really crazy for newr15.i hav been waiting for it like crazy.
so when there was no news of it on 25th jan..so i personally mailed to backoffice yamaha..
according to their reply ..they hav no plans to launch new r15.
trust me guys..this is the truth…if u dont believe me then mail it to them urself…they wll reply within 1-2 days…
there is some guy on net saying that he got a reply from yamaha that they wll be launching in jan …its fake…
i dont know abt this pic but it seams to me now that someone has modified the bike and has put up this pic…

It was a rumour. I also contacted Yamaha and got the response that they are not launching new R15. So, don’t know where this rumour came from. Now, I am confused between R15 and CBR250 which Honda will be launching in April. CBR 250 is more powerful than R15 but R15 looks much more beautiful than CBR. Please help !!!!!…

(02/22/2011) and they have included a line about new R15 will be launched between feb and march, where motorbeam reposted the Mini R6.Other Company are ready to lanuch their updated 2011 model machine like Karizma ZMR ,ABS Apache,HOnda CBR. If these machines hit the road before the New Yamaha R15, i am sure that market of yamaha will go down.

k72, temporary there is an affect on imports from Japan but things should get fine real soon. If Yamaha was planning to launch the 2011 R15 in April, they much have started manufacturing already and must have imported the parts from Japan.

@fas : it seems it will take more time , since the production department of yamaha japan located near the costal side. so if the production is done for new R15 and not shipped it will take atleast 6 to 8 months to be shipped due to the earth quake in japan .

I am also waiting for New Yamaha YFZ R-15 since January. I think its the best bike in its class. But as Yamaha is delaying the launch, Yamaha may suffer a dip in its market share. Yes, it is maxabout. But I am not sure about the site authenticity but I have been following there site from queit long for Yamaha R15 update and they have been updating the expected date section as and when they have some details. But I am sure something is around the corner. As Honda CBR250 is launched and has already crossed 2000 bookings, it has started creating a dent in Yamaha YFZ R15 sales. So Yamaha’s next move would be to atleast face lift YFZ R15.

Its bad move from Yamaha India. They have some good products but they always make bad business decision in launching there flagship vechicles and this is just not in India it is true also for other Asia countries. I am very much sure that many R15 fans have already switched to other bikes or are planning to switch. One cannot wait indefinitely for new Yahama R15. There should be some deadline. Only die hard fans like us will keep waiting, but at some point even we would give up if something new and exciting comes into the market.

I think the postponement of CBR250 can be related to the supply chain hicups. They will not change the specs/price which are already annouced. Moreover, CBR250 have already crossed 2000 bookings since the booking started. I think Yamaha will either have to launch (if they are launching) New Yamaha R15 soon or get new 250CC bike in the market. In either case, Yamaha is bound to lose market share. There sales in India have increased because of the FZ-16 and FZ-S-16.

k72, its a test bike in most cases. Also Yamaha is surely going to launch a new R15, its just that they are delaying it for reasons best known to them. Could be due to part shortage (Japan earthquake could have affected them). Also they might want to clear current R15 stock before getting the new version.

I waited for a long time.
I think yamaha does not like to launch the bike in thz year.i think no reason for waiting more..so yesterday i went to yamaha dealership office at thodupuzha and asked about it. They told me that they didnt get any newses from head office and cant say any thing about the launching date. They also heard this piece of news and the rumors..so they advice me to go for the existing r15…I confirmed my booking..i wl get r15 at next month.
Frzt option is white limitted edition and second option is mid night black…:-)

@deepak: I just got the info about it and the same found in MCN.MCN is a famous website in UK and deals with Automobile.You can find MCN related Videos in Youtube.So the information must be true,but when inquired regarding this in showroom , they have not got any official info about it. I think the yamaha R15 older version is still in production and most perfer for it. This newer version might be a limited edition of R15.Fingers crossed.If yamaha india is not turning back next month Starting, obviously the bike will be launched on November or September

Hey guys … the delay might be integration of ABS system in the upcoming R15. has Apache has done a month back , this made the New R15 delay. the price of New R15 is expected to be higher than the previous version.We all know that the launching of New R15 Expected before , but now every indian sports bikes is with ABS system. So yamaha planning for the same.

yes…I am waiting for it so long..wait for it..it will out before august…3 yamaha showroom of kolkata conform me..I am in touch with them from december last year..first time since decemebr yesterday..they accept..new R15 will come for sure..and will come in next 2 month..

@Yo: Even i was waiting since december… infact i sold my bike in december to buy the existing R15, but rumours spread saying the new R15 is gonna launch then, so i postponed my plans of taking one.

no idea…I asked in the showroom..they told is will be announced on newspaper and website..afetr that the booking will start..hopefull booking will start between 1 and a half month..god knows..that earthquake not only destroyed Japan..also our dream..

I was about to purchase current R15

Hey guys … i bought the R15.. older one … The older version is classic version and looking great than the newer one, so i went for that. Absolutely stunning ride… And i have enquired about New R15. Right Now the production is stopped for Sport Edition(White Color) which resembles the New R15 is going to be launched soon.So Guys wait for it.

Its good decesion. New R15 will not come to market till November 2011. So better buy the old one. Moreover, the pictures given above are of R125 and not R15.

The main reason , i got the older version is 2011 R15 has a matt finish in the side similar like R15 in first launch (Red Wine and Black Color).That looks odd.

hey..
As i mentioned in my comment in april 17 i booked limitted edition..
But till now i wont get the byke. Yestrday went to showroom for clarification. They told me that production of white limitted edition is stopped by company and they are planning to launch a upgraded version in that place. I think it s the byke which you guys are seeking for. The officer told me thz upgraded version may be release at july or september.and price wil be greater than existing model. Around 115000 – 130000.

As i mentioned earlier , the limited edition is stopped and the price of new R15 is high than the older one.So guys , those who are planning for the limited budget (111000), go for older one . New R15 cost more and expected with ABS Version of it.

yup..it will launch on 14th June..but there is some problem..is it really R15 or R125 ..or R25……a 150 cc bike can’t be 22ps..if it really do..then yamaha is awesome..but then fuel consumption will be less..around 20 kmpl…that *****.

Yo: There is all possibility for yamaha to increase the BHP to 22, it just the matter of ECU programming. If u see MOTO GP, a 125cc engine bike produces an outstanding 50-55 BHP with a top speed of almost 200-250 kmph all coz of tuning the ECU.

*Hey guys , hearty adavance congrats to all for going to buy new r15. Really Stunning …. My choice will be older one itself , since the new one will have more power , and obviously it will affect the mileage. Anyways passionate of new r15. It seems to be the cost will be high…..? than the older one.
*Hope it will be launched in ABS , since TVS started their safe ride in roads.

I was wondering that can we modify its tank? its very small just like old R15.. i mean to get more sportier look!! will it require too much altering? Well actually its not bike’s fault.. I’v became huge fan of R125 thats why i want a bike somewhat like it.. any suggestion abt any sporty bike? my budget is 1.4 lakh or will u recommend me R15 2011 only?

lol.. k hen i’ll wait for its release as i luv R series.. as all girls out here luv R15 :p… well earlier i thought for CBR but its looks are not so impressive & it is also not a sport bike.. its a commuter with sporty features :-S.. stull.. Can anyone recommend me a good sport bike? lol dont say NINJA 250R as i’m just 16 yr old & dad wont directly give me such expensive bike :P
