BMW India will position the new X1 as the cheapest car from its portfolio when it launches the smallest SUV by end of this year.  The base variant is expected to cost around Rs. 24 lakhs (little cheaper than the BMW 320d corporate) and will feature a 2.0 liter diesel powerplant driving the rear wheels. Higher variants will have more power along with 4 wheel drive. Based on the 3 series, the X1 is being brought in as a CKD and will be assembled at the BMW’s Chennai facility.

Great. I was thinking my next car would be CRV but X1 for just 2 lakhs extra is great. Are you sure about the pricing. Because if it touches the 30L mark, I would be disappointed.

thats great. 24L is a catch. but i guess it the ex showrrom and for sure it might turn up to 30L on road due to BMW own insurance which is way more than normal. But, it looks good far.
