GM Gives Chevrolet Captiva A Facelift

2014 Chevrolet Captiva Facelift

Chevrolet has launched the updated Captiva at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. The styling updates on the new Captiva include reworked front and rear bumpers, LED tail lamps, angular chrome exhaust tips, new grille mesh, revised fog lamps and a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels to make the SUV look fresh. Coming to the interiors, the new Captiva boasts new seat colors with new fabric including leather on higher trims and restyled instrument panel. The changes are not really drastic for this Korean SUV.

The list of features for convenience gets longer with an addition of keyless entry and start system, dual-zone climate system, ambient lighting package and heated rear seats. Chevrolet is offering an option of 5 and 7-seat configurations for the Captiva. We expect General Motors to introduce the updated Chevrolet Captiva to the Indian market by second half of this year. The engine options will remain unchanged and the SUV will come with an option of all-wheel drive system. GM currently imports the car via the CBU route, resulting in a hefty price tag.

The Chevrolet Captiva is powered by two engine options including a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 148 BHP of max power with 320 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 2.2-litre diesel engine that churns out 187 BHP of peak power with 424 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Currently, the Captiva comes at a starting price of Rs. 18.74 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) and competes with the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Ford Endeavour and Hyundai Santa Fe.
