Off late, the MPV segment has heated up a lot with every manufacturer bringing out a MPV model from their stable. The earliest of the forays can be dated to some few year back when Toyota carved a niche in the Indian market with the launch of the Innova (not counting the Qualis). The Innova ruled the roost with complete monopoly for years to come and any effort by another manufacturer to give it some competition was an apocalyptic failure. But times have changed and now with so much competition in the small car segment, car makers are looking out for alternate vehicle segments to make some mark. Maruti Suzuki forayed into the personal MPV segment for the first time by unveiling the Ertiga at the 2012 Auto Expo while Hyundai also showed similar future direction by showcasing the Hexa Space.

Another maker planning its attack on this segment is Chevrolet. Chevrolet along with its Chinese partner SiAC is planning to launch the Wulling CN-100 in the Indian market. Chevrolet also confirmed these plans by showcasing a production version of the same car which was named “Chevrolet MPV” at the 2012 Auto Expo. Now, it is clearly evident that the name MPV is a temporary name and won’t carry over to the actual vehicle. Recently Autocar India sources have revealed that this MPV will be called “Enjoy”. The Enjoy will be powered by a 1.4 litre petrol engine that produces 94.6 BHP of power. The current times are about diesel powertrains and GM understands that very well. So, the company is also going to plonk Fiat’s 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine. What is going to be the USP of the Enjoy is its killer pricing. The company is targeting to sell the vehicle at a starting price below Rs. 6 lakhs. With such killer pricing, it sure is going to give some serious competition to the Ertiga, the Mahindra Xylo and the Toyota Innova.

Vivek, its Chinese styling, so you can expect it to be build to a cost.

Fas, Yeah, its build to the cost and yes, as you have mentioned, its USP would be its pricing. But alteast the build quality should be up to the mark!

Vivek, build quality we can only judge on the production version of the vehicle.

Suggestions :

1) Ground clearance should be atleast 180mm considering its length, weight and the unexpected and rough Indian roads.

2) Rear lamp clusters to have double brake / red bright multi reflector lights ( top and bottom ) and indicator and reverse lamps in between them. This will give a good look to the rear.

Auto Analyst, if they give it 180mm ground clearance, stability will suffer (although not by much).
