Fiat India is planning to launch the Grande Punto in June 2009. Based on the same platform as the Linea the Punto was to be originally launched in 2008. Fiat decided to launch the Linea first. The Grande Punto will be sold with 1.2L and 1.4L petrol engines, apart from the 1.3L Multi-jet diesel.
Even though the Punto is by now ready for production Fiat claims that a six-month launch gap is required to ensure that its dealer network can handle large volumes. Fiat is using the time to fine tune the Grande Punto to further suit the needs of Indian customers.

It will have similar features of the Linea and will be priced around Rs. 6 lakhs.

I have heard rumors that Fiat will be launching Fiat Grande Punto 1.6 MJD (120 BHP) and 1.4 T-Jet petrol in 2010 in India…Have you got any details about the same..??

Amith, Fiat won’t launch a 1.6KMD in the Grande Punto as that will make the price higher due to higher excise duty.

Ramesh, Fiat will launch the Grande Punto Diesel with 75bhp for better fuel efficiency.

the 90bhp MJD is more fuel efficient than 75 bhp and its more driveable especially in lower RPMs
