Fiat has launched the 2012 Linea and 2012 Punto in India. However the 2012 versions are not much different than the 2011 counterparts and have no changes to their mechanicals whatsoever. Fiat has just changed features and variants and revised prices, keeping them introductory for the moment. Both the cars continue to be powered by the same 1.3-liter Multijet diesel and 1.4-liter FIRE petrol engines. The Grande Punto is also powered by a 1.2-liter FIRE petrol engine. A new colour, Oceanic Blue also debuts on the 2012 Fiats. Fuel efficiency is improved on both the Punto and Linea. The diesel Linea now returns 20.4 kmpl while the petrol Linea returns 14.6 kmpl. The Punto 1.2 returns 15.2 kmpl, the Punto 1.4 returns 14.6 kmpl and the Punto 1.3 diesel returns 20.3 kmpl. Fiat also revealed its plans to open 22 exclusive Fiat branded showrooms across India in 2012. These will be in agreement with Tata Motors. The 2012 Fiat Linea and Grande Punto now have a ground clearance of 185mm, with the Punto 1.2 Petrol having a ground clearance of 195mm.

Hey Faisal, Any facelift expected for the TJet?
January 3, 2012 at 10:01 pm
Rajan, the T-Jet receives no upgrades and will be sold as it was last year.
January 4, 2012 at 10:35 am
FIAT should be ashamed of themselves! Launching cars which are least efficient and that too at price which is not at all competitive. It is priced more than many better equipped hatches. A month back they were selling these same cars at 50k to 1 lakh discount. Grow up FIAT!
January 4, 2012 at 1:05 pm
Sushrut..the cars have nothing wrong in them, if you compare the build quality which is FIAT providing at this price, it is unmatched. Rock solid build, best handling cars within 10 lakhs price range, new features added which are still unavailable in this segment, what more are you asking for. Nobody hates a FIAT, its only the service issues which needs to be handled properly.
January 5, 2012 at 12:25 am
Which car do you benchmark in this Segment and concluded?
January 4, 2012 at 5:04 pm
Fas,
I just read this article titled “Fiat to end dealership JV with Tatas” on TOI this morning. Any truth behind this?
If yes, FIAT’s back on the top of my list for my first car :)
January 5, 2012 at 12:31 am
Anand, yes its true, we carried the news sometime back as well.
January 4, 2012 at 6:20 pm
I also notice that there would not be a Emotion Pack variant! The Emotion gets them all :) Waiting for on-road price in Bangalore
January 5, 2012 at 12:34 am
Anand, Emotion Pack available in 90hp version.
January 4, 2012 at 9:24 pm
i think unless they dont offer 90 hp version, power hungry or enthusiast person will never buy this car….acc. to me they must launch the 90 hp version accross all vasriants…..rest everything perfect….!!!!
i have driven the normal version, pick up is total *hit… even polo 3 cylinder engine has more pick up than this normal version of punto…..!!
think fiat think…..!!!
January 5, 2012 at 12:37 am
Sunny, 90hp version is still being offered but gets no updates!
January 5, 2012 at 9:31 am
Yesterday I visited FIAT showroom in Pune and had chat with my sales advisor. He said 90HP Punto and Tjet Linea will get these upgrades in March – April 2012.
Faisal one more news. FIAT India got one more dealer in Pune which Milluniumm Motors, Wakadewadi, Pune and they are going to own & run FIAT Caffe in Pune.
January 13, 2012 at 1:15 am
Kedar, I heard Fiat Caffe starts in January in Pune.
