Ford India intends to increase exports as it gears up for the small car launch next year. Ford, which presently uses Mumbai Port to route exports, proposes to use Chennai port as its transit point to commence complete exports early next year. Ford which has started export of fully-built cars from the Chennai Port, has shipped out around 170 vehicles to South Africa. By early next year, Ford would be in a position to move all its exports via the Chennai Port. Ford is also keen to align with the government to consider the use of the Indian Railways to transport its consignments.
