After all the scoops and numerous uncamouflaged spy shots, Ford EcoSport has finally started hitting the dealerships in India. According to the dealers, the launch is expected to happen sometime soon, most probably next month and the deliveries will commence later in March or April this year. Ford dealers have already started accepting the bookings of the EcoSport in advance with Rs. 50,000/-, which is completely refundable. Ford will offer both petrol and diesel engine options on the EcoSport.
The EcoSport spotted at the dealership is the 1.0-litre manual EcoBoost model in Titanium trim. The particular model didn’t feature parking sensors, so we expect that Ford will offer high end goodies in the Titanium+ trim. Notice the huge panel gaps on the rear door openings. The interior design is almost similar to the Ford Fiesta. The interior space when compared to the Renault Duster is less, as the EcoSport measures less than 4-metres in length and the Duster is a mid-size SUV.
The Ford EcoSport is powered by a 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine producing 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque with an option of 5-manual and a 6-speed PowerShift automatic transmissions. The EcoSport featuring a 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Fiesta churns out 90 BHP of power and 200 Nm of torque coupled with only a 5-speed manual transmission. According to sources, the EcoSport will head to production in March and the deliveries can be stretched upto May this year.

LOOKS LIKE, FORD IS AWAITING THE 2013-14 BUDGET TO PRICE THE MINI SUV. IT IS LIKELY, BUDGET WILL HAVE SOME CONCESSION TO AUTO SECTOR. SO, EXPECT THE SUV NOT BEFORE 01 APRIL 2013.

Hi,
I always thought motorbeam to be the bearer of authentic info but I am royally disappointed by this article published without any research or enquiry. NO dealer is taking any official booking as of now. Few of them who were already doing so, continue to do so. But NO official bookings yet. And this wheelomania pictures have no verified authentic source.
Mr. Aariv Rizvi, can you please comment on which dealership has EcoSport arrived? Readers, please be aware of such lazy (read:copied from unverified sources on the internet) and misleading articles.
Thanks.
Priyanka.

Priyanka, can you read the article once again? No where does it mention bookings are officially open, also it is clearly states that some facts are according to dealers. We have also clearly pointed to the source of pics to Wheelomania. Unless they have access to the Ford plant, there is no other covered area except a dealership where the vehicle can be spotted.

one of my friends friend is Ford dealer , and yes booking for Ecosport is opened..!!!!
Priyanka January 24, 2013 at 8:32 pm
What should I comment on this very lame response of yours, which has no legs to stand on.
You’re posting an article on your website with the title “Ford Ecosport bookings open” and now you’re defending yourself by naming the source of the pictures. Really? “source of pics”.
I give up as I don’t have anything to counter your very juvenile response.

Mam, I am also a reader of motorbeam. But few points I wish to bring into your attention in this issue.
They are indeed letting your comment on questing their own article be visible. For me, its really trust-able on their approach of work.
I agree, article title is little confusing perhaps, but they have not mentioned “officially” anywhere or “confirmed by ford” anywhere.
They clearly mentioned the source of information.
Since its a news sourced from somewhere else, as a reader is not it our own responsibility to decide what is authenticate and what is not ??
At-least this approach (sourcing with mentioned source) helps us, as reader, to cut down the internet browsing and stop at one place for all information.

Priyanka, many Ford dealers were taking bookings for the EcoSport last year, for a sum of Rs. 10,000/-. Ford instructed dealers to return booking amount. Now the dealers are taking booking again, definitely they know more than us. I have personally spoken to a local Ford dealer who has told me about this. The reason why we carried the story is, so those looking to buy the EcoSport can book one and be among the first to get it.

Thanks Sandy for the support ;-)
Abhishek January 29, 2013 at 2:13 pm
Great car / SUV if available in Diesel Automatic transmission , i will definetely buy a diesel auto transmission .
sandy January 30, 2013 at 6:41 pm
word from a ford dealer – officially bookings not yet started by ford. it is based on dealerships. however, confirmed that display car will come to showrooms in Feb and official launch in Mar (I am unable to distinguish the difference between display car in feb and official launch in mar). Its counter intuitive. However, yes, by March end, bookings will start…
mathew February 10, 2013 at 6:37 pm
I do not think Ford will launch the ecosport in the near future. It seems their dealers are absolutely useless as I am the owner of a Fiesta.
Faisal Khan February 10, 2013 at 10:12 pm
Mathew, what did the dealers say?
Sarfraz February 18, 2013 at 12:13 pm
Hi, I have booked ecosport a month ago and now
Dealers are saying that petrol engine is going to
Launch on march and diesel within couple f months
After that. I am confused whether to wait for it or
Go with duster . The delivery of diesel may take
More than 3 months from now it seems . Don’t understand
What ford is aiming and this much delay clearly
takes away the customers to dusters way
Faisal Khan February 18, 2013 at 12:50 pm
Sarfraz, EcoSport is expected to be Rs. 1-1.5 lakhs cheaper than Duster. I would suggest you wait.
amit chauhan February 24, 2013 at 8:03 pm
