Ford EcoSport Launch Around The Corner

Ford EcoSport Website

The much awaited sub 4-metre Ford EcoSport is about to launch in a few weeks time and our sources inform us that the company will soon be conducting dealer training for the EcoSport. Ford India was caught updating its website recently and we believe the launch will take place in February. Ford will promote the EcoSport via ‘Urban Discoveries’ campaign, which is similar to Figo’s Discover drive promotion campaign. Ford has launched the EcoSport in the international market and the baby SUV is churning out good volumes.

The Ford EcoSport will be launched in India with a compact 1.0-litre EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine responsible for producing a maximum power output of 120 BHP and a peak torque figure of 170 Nm. The TDCi 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Fiesta, churning out a maximum power output of 90 BHP and 200 Nm of peak torque will be offered as well. The EcoSport will be coupled to a 6-speed PowerShift automatic transmission (petrol only) and a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Ford EcoSport will come well-equipped with features including keyless entry with push button start, SYNC system that connects your phone with Bluetooth (to sync music, contacts, messages and more), ABS, ESP, Hill Launch Assist, front and rear airbags and much more. The EcoSport will be playing in the Indian market with rivals like Mahindra Quanto and Renault Duster. Being a sub 4-metre car, we expect the EcoSport to be launched with a price range of Rs. 7-10 lakhs.

Unbelievable power and torque figures. This will definitively be the car (suv) of this year. Once launched, I fear that this new kid on the block would even dare the mature, king of suv’s, all time raid de himalaya champion, the Gypsy king. Maruti Suzuki must take up this matter seriously.

a high speed turbo spooling at really low rpm’s can be a disaster in terms of maintainence! ford and maintainence are long rivals! must watch the ecoboost engine for reliability on road first , going ga ga over features is good but will the engine last in our dust!
