Ford Launches Endeavour All Terrain Edition

Ford Endeavour Alterrain Edition

The Ford Endeavour has been selling decently but last month it saw a sharp decline. While in November and December 2012, Ford sold 154 and 220 units of the Endeavour, in January 2013, the American car maker managed to sell only 31 units, a sharp decline. The poor sales of the Endeavour can be attributed to the product being old and not updated, while new competitors are gunning all out in the SUV segment. The SsangYong Rexton has taken significant marker share, considering the Korean brand is not well known in India. In a bid to give the Endeavour a minor push, Ford has launched a special edition.

Ford has launched the Endeavour All Terrain Edition, priced at Rs. 21.20 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The vehicle gets added features including nudge bar, chrome highlights, chrome plated alloy wheels, new grille, roof tray, body graphics, rear spoiler, iluminated scuff plates, dual-tone beige interiors with majestic molten metal color, reverse parking camera, steering column mounted audio controls and touch screen audio system with GPS and satellite navigation. The Endeavour All Terrain Edition is offered with 4-wheel drive (SHIFT-ON-FLY) and a 5-speed automatic gearbox.

Powering the Ford Endeavour All Terrain Edition is a 3.0-litre TDCi diesel engine with variable geometry turbocharger. The 2953cc unit belts out 156 PS of power at 3200 RPM and 380 Nm of torque at 2500 RPM. This longer than 5-metre vehicle might attract a few buyers but is it enough to unsettle the segment leader, the Toyota Fortuner? Ford is expected to bring a massively updated Endeavour sometime later this year. The company’s complete focus is on the Endeavour’s little sibling, the EcoSport.
