2009 honda city e Honda To Discontinue City E

Honda has priced the Jazz in Mumbai between Rs. 7.43 and 7.78 lakhs. Due to this high pricing Honda just realised the difference between the top end Jazz Active and the City base variant is just Rs. 50,000/- Thus Honda plans to discontinue the base E variant. The 1.5E variant of the Honda City has all the features of the higher variants, except beige interiors. Honda wishes to increase the price gap between the Jazz and the City to position both the cars better, or so they say.

WoW….Funny/Crazy/Illogical strategy by Honda…When companies all over the world are trying to luanch affordable/economical cars in India, Honda luanched the no feautre-high price hatch-back…Instead of finding ways to minimize the cost, Honda is trying to justify the price by increasing the gap between Jazz and City…I guess somebody in Honda is trying to implement a BOS strategy in a wrong way here…

  2. Carz Says:

Looks like Honda can’t think of new marketing strategy, a good one at that. Hopefully they correct this quick, Honda might lose many potential buyers.

I don’t know who is being more foolish? Fiat of past or Honda of present.

  4. fas Says:

Sumit, looking at the way they have priced the Jazz and how they don’t care to launch diesel vehicles, I think Honda is being the current favourite for taking the fool prize.

honda has gone stark raving mad.. first give a ridiculous price to a hatchback and then remove the base variant of the sedan.. they sure r gonna lose out on a lot of buyers..

  6. Indian Autos Blog Says:

I thought Honda was looking at the existing Honda owners for selling the Jazz? This is very fishy

    Cheers

Manu, thanks for your kind words. We will test drive the Jazz soon and write a review.

As I am fan of Honda cars so went to take test drive of Jazz on this Sunday and very much disappointed by the performance of the car.
Mentioning below few points, which I noticed.

    • Car’s dashboard is too huge as compared to size of car; due to that it’s visibility in front is pathetic. Driver can only see the dashboard which is going upwards rather road.

    • Car is under powered and felt lack of power in 2nd, 4th gear as well as in overdrive. Does not seems to me, as i am driving 89 BHP 1198cc, SOHC, i-VTEC engine. Noticed a jerk in every gear change.

    • Car’s braking is quite horrifying at high speed ( 100-110 km)as car looses its stability and goes right or left.

    • Car’s A/c is also not so effective. Its only chilling the cabin once car is moving.

This car is not worth at all buying at the price at which Honda is positioned Jazz in the market.

Tanny, Honda seems to be on a looting spree with the Jazz. There are better cars available at cheaper rates.
