Current Honda Jazz Discontinued In India, New Jazz In 2014

Honda Jazz Facelift Review

The Honda Jazz was one of the best petrol hatchbacks available in the market. The car was known for its free revving refined motor, class leading cabin space and practicality. Initially, the hefty price tag for the Honda Jazz couldn’t attract many buyers but later the manufacturer did a significant price cut of around Rs. 1 lakh that boosted up the sales a bit. Eventually the Jazz piled up a long waiting period for customers and Honda couldn’t manage well to cope up with its diesel rivals.

Honda has now decided to stop the production of the Jazz in order to free up the position for the upcoming Amaze sedan which is expected to be a big game changer for the Japanese automaker in the Indian market. Honda has confirmed that the company will take no more bookings for the Jazz and will deliver cars to the customers who have booked the Jazz already. Honda has not pulled the plug off the Jazz completely, the automaker will introduce the next generation Jazz in the Indian market.

The next generation Honda Jazz is currently under works and the company will produce the hatchback locally in India in order to price it aggressively. The all new Jazz will be built on the next-generation Honda City platform boasting new design elements and will be powered by two engine options, 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel unit and the 1.2-litre petrol motor. The next generation Honda City is expected to be launched next year at the 2014 Auto Expo and the all new Jazz will follow later in mid-2014.

This is not the first time Honda has discontinued a product. The company had discontinued the Civic a few months back, although no official announcement was made about it. Honda does maintain that the Civic hasn’t been phased out and the discontinuation news was just a rumour.
