The Hyundai i20 will be launched on 29th December. However we saw a i20 on the road. The i20 we saw was a Asta model with ABS. It was running on 14 inch wheels. Tyre width was 185mm. It looks pretty good in person and looks quite big. I wonder whose i20 this is, it carried a temporary registration number. Hyundai have a winner on their hands, now only if they price it right and give it the diesel engine soon.

I’m surprised you don’t get the diesel from launch after all it is built in India.
Can i ask what the entry model i20 costs in India??

Greate news! and Congrats for covering this news. But as you said pricing will be cruicial factor for it’s sales performance.We believe I20 will be priced some where near to Skoda Fabia. So we need to wait few hours to know further details.

a hyundai dealer in chennai told me that they would be coming out with 1.3L and/or 1.4L kappa variants for the i20… and a CRDi over the next couple of months…

This Hyundai is worse then even the tatas … eve tatas gave their engine some extra horses when fitting the indica engine into a indigo .. but this korean car maker wants to do with the exact image .. what a shame …

These are the engine variations in which the i20 is sold in Europe:
PETROL – 1.2L, 1.4L and 1.6L. DIESEL – 1.4L and 1.6L.
We can expect the 1.4L diesel & petrol to come next. Forget the 1.6L.
